Alternative way is to kill the two big fookers first and then finish the husks.
I had only one save before the Horizon, my first Vanguard - I am level 11, Heavy Charge + Champion, only one shotgun upgrade.
Fighting two scions is surprisingly easy when you are close, they do not use shockwave but the other attack and it seems only one at the time does damage and if you charge at the right time (just before Scion does its attack) it will be completly harmless.

That's pretty much what I do. Husks and Scion attacks are very easy to dodge if you stay mobile.

One reason i'm looking forward to the kasumi dlc is because i'm hoping she'll have cryo ammo, the only ammo power that a squaddie doesn't have, and that'll free up my points in cryo and let me max both pull and the bonus talent. Also, this flashbang grenade thing sounds like it'll be cool, and possibly really useful.

I don't think you get enough points to do that, considering that you have to dump 3 points in Shockwave to get Pull. It would be awesome if you could though.

Cryo on a squad mate would be cool, but won't they constantly be overriding your inferno ammo with it?

On a side note if Flash Bang is a re-skinned Inferno Grenade with a CC effect I will be very sad.

Here is the rest of Horizon, minus the Preatorian fight which is pretty boring, you cannot charge 'cos if you do it will only boost its barrier. So just run around, keep your distance and the fight is a piece of cake.

Vanguard vs. Collectors on Horizon

I also forgot to post this yesterday:
Vanguard vs. YMIR Mechs and Blue Suns

Awesome vids. Is there any reason you took Slam as a bonus power?

I have no bonus power in the first vid, this is my very first Vanguard, I had no bonus powers unlocked at that time, I had no idea about strength boosting pads etc. I had to use this one because I have no other saves before Horizon on rest of my Vanguard chars.
In the second vid there is my latest Vanguard build, I used that mission to test Evi, Claymore and Scimitar and then I thought I'd finish it with Claymore. Slam is just for fun (like here), because I do not use bonus powers and I took Slam just for fun and because to me, it also makes sense from role-playing view :)

Slam is a lot of fun and it fits in well with the Biotic aspect of the Vanguard class.

Many people don't like taking Reave because of how EZ Mode it is, so Slam makes a good alternative. It's decently powerful, can trigger Warp Explosions if timed right, and kills Husks instantly.

It's pretty much my favourite Bonus Power.

Yes, you're right, for some reason i keep thinking it's 53 points and not 51 you get. doh!

As for the ammo overiding ramsenc, it would be fine as long as she is the only one with a squad ammo. She'd only overwrite your inferno after a wipe and reload, as you keep inferno but squaddies lose their ammo power through a reload. I do not believe the script controlling your allies ammo use is affected by sheps ammo/lack of ammo, but rather by the type of health the owner of the ammo is firing against. This is why a loyal thane is such a pain when using squad cryo, every enemy has health so he will always activate shredder. Zaeed/jacob/grunt switch out of cryo when firing against shields/armour respectively, not sure if whether firing vs synthetics/mechs health will cause zaeed to switch to disruptor, or vs organic health will cause incendiary to be activated.

And yeah, i also have a feeling the flash grenade is going to be either great or terribad. Heres hoping for great! :D

I distinctly remember Zaeed switching me to squad disrupter ammo on his loyalty mission without any dying. Mainly because I wanted to punch him in the face. My memory is pretty bad though.

You mean after setting up ammos? By this i mean activating disruptor on both his weapons, then activating inferno on whichever of yours you want it on? Maybe he switched to his off-wep which hadn't been pre disruptor'd? If he did change your ammo despite all this then the ammo problem/bug/glitch is even worse than i thought.

Oh I didn't disrupter his other weapon. Still though I feel he would have to do it more than once for me to want to punch him.

I should really just try again to be sure :o

edit: Seems he won't constantly switch me. He must have done it twice to me for his own guns.

Thought so, one cause of this problem stems from the fact that on insanity its not outside the realm of possibility to die and then forget to re assign the ammo on his weapons. If squaddie ammo was persistent through reloads like sheps is then thats a good percentage of the ammo problems removed right there. Of course, this does nothing for the AI ammo wars when two squaddies have a squad ammo power, or you want your squad cryo on if they have an ammo. Hmm, i'm gonna have to bump that ammo thread aren't i? Instead of wasting valuable vanguard thread space with this ammo based hogwash...

Yea that problem needs fixing, most annoying thing about this game.

I ended up just using disrupter ammo for that mission anyways. I guess I should have tried switching back another time, but it wasn't so bad. Overheats weapons reliably and works nicely on blue sun shields.

No videos on that specific fight I found, the Horizon video was against collectors, who get easily annihilated. This horizon fight really spiked up the difficulty all of a sudden, and I thought I was doing good lol!

So far the only advice I found was "use cain"... O.o

Check this out:

ME2 - Horizon Double Scions

Best advice I can give if you are having trouble and don't want to use the Cain is to line them up.

Thanks for that, looks like using heavy weapons is needed after all. You should link this video on the first post, it's a difficult fight. So husks first with heavy weapons, and get in close with scions after lining them up. Going to try it now, hopefully I can get past this damn fight heh!

I tried that before but it seems I didn't line them up (hence I got shockwaved). This is a good alternative way as well. Got two thinks to try out now - you folks should post this fight vids on the OP heh.

As someone who played their first Vanguard like a handicapped Adept, I strongly disagree.

Seriously, if you aren't charging you're stuck using Pull and Shockwave, and neither is particularly useful at doing any actual "killing."

A bit of blasphemy I know, but I've just been messing around with a vanguard on insanity using primarily shockwave, area pull and cryo ammo. It's actually surprisingly effective. Not as fun as charging around of course, nor anywhere near as fast, but it does work. Good funl when you take Jack along for double shockwave craziness.

I wouldn't recommend it, but can be diverting for a mission or two in order to spice things up.

Wait what? New abilities for my beloved 2 handers? Such a crappy time to get my old job back! 90% of my gaming is going to take place on consoles I drag with me to hotel rooms.

You need a really nice laptop then. The new abilities are a cone attack, a 5 hitter that can hit multiple enemies if close enough, a toggle that adds shockwaves to your attacks for AoE damage, and an ability that plants your warrior in one spot and attacks surrounding enemies until combat ends or until you disable it.
