Ye its newgame +. I know i can charge from cover to cover.. Its the Ymir mechs(is that the name?) that are giving me trouble.. Doing jack recruitment atm.

My trick for taking out mechs is to single them out first (Kill everyone else), then go toe to toe, if you notice:

- The right hand (minigun) is the killer, the left hand (rocket launcher) can be easily evaded.
- What I do, is have a big crate inbetween me and the YMIR, then play 'peekaboo'. Heh, you can stay in full view of the YMIR and not get hit - as long as you aren't in the line of fire of his right hand.

I just tried the Miranda loaylty mission and wanted to give it kind of a backstory (fictional, inspired by the real NHL - I am a hockey freak - though it came up worse than I wanted but since I already uploaded it, might as well post it).

In case I didn't explain the trick correctly.

Hahaha thanks. Guess i`ll try and find me a box. Not sure i`ll keep going on the newgame+.. my insanity run from scratch was frustrating, and this is even worse :P

Heh don't give up, as you said, its just the YMIR mechs. Its the double YMIR mechs that frustrate me, but I use a similar tactic. To single them out I try to find a "box" where I can still play peekaboo with one at a time, other one I try to keep blocked by obstructions. There is one exception, during Garrus' loyalty mission. But for this part, no, don't charge. Run up to the highest platform behind you, the heavy mechs won't get there and you can take your time killing them. Your squaddies will die but meh oh well heh.

Also, on Jack's recruitment mission, at the area where the YMIR is, a nice head-level 'box' is located on the right side of the area (facing the YMIR mech frmo the start zone)

lol glad at least someone liked it, I wanted to give it a richer backstory (based on real Edmonton Oilers - Calgary Flames rivalry, but there was not enough time in the cutscenes and I did not want to make it too long, as a complete music ignorant I had no idea what to put there so I thought Hans Zimmer could be ok).

0.o Nice :P That vid with you VS the 2 Ymir mechs is insane as well :/ I get slaughtered from one, and you go face to face with 2 :P Wish i could be that good with claymore too, like the gun, but i rarely get one hits

Hans Zimmer is great.  Was actually planning on using him in one of my next vids.

Looking at RamsenC's videos, it looks like taking Tungsten Ammo if just for the Collector Ship mission might make things a touch easier. Any other Vanguards have an opinion on that sort of loadout? Thanks to NG+/Import I have plenty of E0 on hand.

Inferno is better.
I did the Collector ship platforms fight just a while ago to show imho good strategy for that fight, because some guys in general chat said it was hardest part of the game.

You can see it here

Ah, I did see this video.  Nice work, and thanks for the tip.

Guess I need to redouble my efforts to master the "reload" trick...

Well yeah, reload trick makes Claymore usable, without it Evi is a lot better imho.
Inferno Ammo is really good though, makes fighting groups of enemies a lot easier.

After I repurpose my points for Inferno ammo (i'd opted for Squad Cryo Ammo first), I'll do the same thing I did previously: pick up the Claymore, save the game in front of the weapons locker, and if I can't wrap my fingers around the reload trick on the X-Box controller, reload and swap to the Evi.  I've seen people take on the Collector ship with the Scimitar as well.

Scimitar is also very good, it really comes down to personal preference :)

Meh now im stuck at the prisonbreak boss... Damn commander units keep spawning, and its quite ridiculous how fast my shields drop. I dont think i've held on to my shields for more then 2 seconds in any encounter so far. I`ll admit i'm somewhat jealous of these people that make insanity look easy...

Normally i'm quite good at games (if i may so so :P) but cracking this nut is just silly... I can have full knowledge of where people are and POP some random dude shows up out of nowhere, and pretty much grants me 1 more second to life. Doesn't help my charge bugs out every other usage.

The mech fight was pretty easy once i had him standing around like an idiot while i shot him... But i cant use silly tricks for this fight. Guess i`ll browse youtube to see if theres a video of it

Hey hey you got past the mech... now you're stuck at commanders lol. Well first thing first - dont destroy shield generators until commanders are gone.

Either then that... I had to rely on squaddies for this fight myself I guess, aggressive-defensive cause those commanders for some weird reason are seriously good at bringing down your shields/health. Had to be careful where I charge.

On the left side, facing the warden from the start position, there is very nice cover. Very rare do they actually flank. Charge, boom, go back to cover, charge boom, repeat etc. And if you find an idiot behind the commander who is in great cover, CHARGE HIM, boom, and guess what, the commander is helpless heh. Do count your enemies however, the spawns are about 4 enemies at a time. If I remember, there were only 3 commander spawns.

Argh... need to playthrough again. I hope I've helped.

At the start, if you can quickly charge down around the people below you and kill them fast then do that, if not, then wait for the shield generators to pop up while behind cover. The most important part is to kill the generators fast, as as long as one is up more enemies will keep spawning.
I found it best to kill the one right in front of you, then the left hand one, then the right hand one. The right hand one is where the first enemy group will always spawn in, and it's impossible to prevent them spawning in. If you try and take that one 1st/2nd then bad guys will spawn around you, which is bad.

Hehe sorry if im whining, and taking over the thread :P I`ll keep my frustrations for myself :P Cant be good at everything i suppose. I almost had the guy dead this time, but it turned out another set of guys decided to spawn. Ah well, i`ll keep it up , and if i ever get good i`ll make a video :P

Think I've been misleading... I never destroyed the 3rd generator myself until I got rid of the commanders. I didn't know that actually had something to do with the spawns. By habit I destroyed two during my playthrough.

That video was early on in the figuring out Vanguard process :o

AP ammo is fine, but the Inferno AoE is much more helpful especially for that part since enemies are tightly packed.

Kronners excellent new collector platform video made me decide to try a speed run using my own style of vanguard play. I managed to get a 1:22 run on the collector platform at level 30 NG+ Insanity. Ill link it as soon as youtube is finished processing.

Also I want to point out that scimitar isnt as weak as it seems in my video, enemies just have better upgrades in early and midgame level 30 NG+ Insanity than they do in regular Insanity which makes them more difficult to kill.

Edit: Well I just beat my time by a good 6 seconds, down to 1:16 before my other video even processed. I am guessing a nearly flawless run would get sub 1:10 on Insanity+ and sub 1:00 may be possible on normal insanity.

Playing my second time through the game as a Vanguard (this time on Hardcore) I have no idea how you guys do it. There are certain missions that all I do is Die over and over again. I try to be smart with my charges but it often leads to me getting murdered from all sides. If I try to be super conservative I eventually get whittled down as me and my squad are unable to kill off all the hordes that keep coming and coming and coming. Horizon right now is a nightmare for me :)

Are you on PC or Xbox? Vanguard is a class that is very friendly towards twitch gamers, and having a mouse to aim with is a huge advantage over an Xbox control.

I play on PC. I guess it's growing pains :)
