Currently at Tuchanka on my painseeker vanguard. My current skills are 4 area charge, 4 champion, 2 incendiary, 1 cryo, 1 shockwave, and 1 slam. Yeah, I'm spread pretty thin, but that's because Shockwave and Slam are useful, even at the first level. So is Cryo. My party members tend to be Zaeed/Thane along with either Miranda or Grunt. Grunt for the survivability, and Miranda for removing defenses. I haven't decided which one I prefer, but I'm leaning towards Grunt.

One thing to remember about the Painseeker is that Squaddie cooldown and area effect are better for you than power.  So abilities like Concussive Blast, Area Throw etc. are good.

I'll remember that. So use squaddies with powers? Miranda, Samara with Area Reave, etc.

Quick question on my adept, though I know it's off topic: throw or pull? I have my passive and unstable warp maxed.

Pull.  So many uses.

I return!

My Mass Effect 1 expedition was a great success and I am now ready to venture forth into the realms of the Terminus Systems! I guess.

Even got a good looking custom face to rock! Let me know if you want to see it.

Anyways, anything new going on here? New revelations about skills or specs or armor and whatnot?

Welcome back!

"Slamplosions" seem to be the latest rage. Heh. Otherwise, it's been fairly quiet.

I knew Slamplosions would come into style sooner or later, I've been using them for a month. Slam is a ton of fun to use on it's own, and it's even better when you make the sorry fella explode on the way up! Also tends to keep the enemy where they are instead of pulling them towards you, often making the explooooosions hit enemies more effectively.

It's been at least 3 weeks since I've played though so I'm a bit rusty. Playing EZ mode ME1 doesn't help either. I keep trying to spam my abilities but that universal cooldown is getting in the way >.>

I also can't run around like Rambo without touching cover anymore. BioWare, you are a clever bunch...

My new and improved kickass Shepard, charging scrubs and taking names. What do you guys think? Also I'll remove the pic if you want me to afterwards.

How well does the VA mesh with him?

Seamlessly.

Normally when I create a custom Shep, my main issue is that the voice doesn't match and it doesn't feel right playing the character, But with this guy I just got right into it instantly without any issues. The face looks great (IMO) and the voice matches it perfectly.

All in my opinion of course, one has to try it to decide for themselves. The first mission or two should be a large enough sample size. :P

My Character is Vanguard and is awsome :) the only thing that sucks is that in ME1 the guns of the vanguard suckass a lot.:( You have to have a godly pistol that all.

Ok good. I'm not the only one who has the uncanny valley problem I see. That's awesome that you actually like this guy! Seriously. I've tried many times to make different Sheps but I just can't. They looked awesome while I was making them, but I couldn't get through Freedom's Progress. Every cutscene creeped me out to the point where I just deleted them...

Do you guys have any advice regarding squadmate builds for a Vanguard? I never know what to do with Jack, Thane or Samara.

Yep, this is the problem I've had. I think I have something good, and then I see a series of poor facial animations that make me cringe so I usually have to restart. That didn't happen this time, and I'm really happy it didn't because the game feels so much cooler when you've put your own touch on Shepard's appearance. In my opinion of course.

Aye, exactly the same for me. I haven't had the same problem with female Shep though. I have two that I can handle at least. Not sure why, but they both just work. One is a Vanguard and the other is everything else... I can't explain it.

Good question. With all three I unlock each of their main abilities for sure and for Jack and Samara I then max their passives in favour of cooldowns. With Thane I go for weapon damage. The health bonus equates to about one extra hit (if that, I think). Not really worth it. I save 10 points with Samara for Area Reave, just because (even though it makes things almost too easy). Typically Unstable Warp for Thane and a maxed version of Shockwave for Jack. The rest (well, all of it really) is just personal preference. I've done it this way with 3 Vanguards so far and it definitely works for me. The only exception is Samara and Area Reave... like I said, it makes things too easy. But that's just me.

The one thing that drives me crazy is that automatic point spent in bonus powers. What makes Miranda and Jacob so special? Huh? <_<

Le gasp!

*High five*

On another note did anyone else think the Firewalker missions were stupid? I'm not mad at BW about it because it was free gameplay, but there just wasn't a whole lot to do. One mission with any serious fighting and a handful of other 5 minute missions to scan for information over and over.

It's free and it's mildly entertaining so I'm cool with it, but I think they could have done more with the concept.

I actually liked it. I'm doing my first non-NG+ insanity run as a sentinel, and they gave me a level. I'm sidequesting like all hell on this save, so the extra exp was a big help.

But seriously, I thought that the missions were mildly entertaining. I'd love to have that be a multiplayer aspect of the 3rd game - tank warfare, or racing.

Just uploaded this vid. Insanity speed run in collector's base 1st part. Matched sabre's 2:43 with eviscerator, which is a bit harder to do imo, though I clearly make a few mistakes which could've shed 3 to 5 seconds more from the total time. And I'm at a disadvantage cause I didn't pick sniper rifle training. :D No health damage, no hvy weapons etc. Enjoy in HD once youtube finalizes the upload. :)

Very impressive, especially the use of Warp Explosions. I did notice a couple of minor mistakes, but they didn't really take away from the video. And I definitely couldn't do that myself.

That video really reminds me of how freaking OP Reave is. <_<

Very nice video. Shepard Reave is probably required for the best speed runs on Collectors since Samara's Reave just barely misses the defense one shot.

I don't see why that video would remind you of Reave being OP. Overload or Incinerate will perform the same function shown in that video depending on the mission (unless those are OP too).

edit: I forgot about the new biotic upgrades from the firewalker mission. Makes it so you don't need Reave on Shepard to one shot defenses.

Youtube drives me insane! It took me four uploads for the video to be processed without screwing up some part of it. FOUR. At least I had the day off. <_<

Anyway. Been loving NG+. The first bunch of missions before you get any upgrades are the only real challenge for me any more. For those that have played the normal game through a few times and find that it is getting rather easy, start up some NG+. I love the challenge! Also, it helps if you wear purple.

Jacking up Purgatory: Part One

That mission is one of the harder ones in the game imo. Too bad once you get that second shotgun upgrade the challenge will be gone :o
