I've tried. I really have. But I can't... I can't play a female romancing a male. Some of the other posters here said that they didn't see themselves as romancing Alenco or whatever he's called. It's their character. Like watching a female lead character in a movie hitting on a man. Cool, no problem.



I just can't do that. To me, I'm that character. Shepard is a vessel for my.. something. Anyway, it's me inside that guy. And if I had his strength, confidence, gear and allies that he has, I would like to think that I would do what he did in my playthrough. Of course I'm kidding myself, but anyways... That's how I play. And I don't hit on men. Or Jack. Never Jack. Rather Jacob, than Jack. So there.

This. Combined with: If I'm looking at a butt for 90% of the time played, it better be a nice butt. Romancing a male NPC is a way to get an even better view at the butt on your screen, the male NPC is nothing but(t) a tool in that case.

Same reason why half the guys playing WoW picked a female nelf/belf: it made their screen more appetizing.

Romancing is just an extrapolation of playing those games as a female. I personally have little doubt that in DA:O many guys started out with a female character as well, though usually started out romancing Leli (or installing the genderbender mod to romance Morrigan), and after doing the girl/girl part, romanced a male just to get their achievements completed as well.

Straight guy here, early 30s, with a missus and two kids.



That said, I thought Kaidan was the best LI in ME1. Ashley was a racist bigot with daddy issues (and gets Virmire'd every time), and Liara, bless her heart, was very naive and comical, but a tad lacking in personality. Kaidan's romance dialog felt more natural, like it was more likely to have come out of the mouth of an actual person (and some of the banter was great). And since there's no way to make a gay male Shep on the 360 (which I would have been fine with doing, because it's a GAME), I have both a male and female Shep imported into ME2, the former partnered with Liara, the latter with Kaidan.



Now, my missus may crack jokes about me being gay, but really, if you're secure enough in your sexuality, it shouldn't be a big deal to play a female character romancing a male.

When your Shepard hooks up with Miranda, it's not you having sex with her. You did not just have sex with Yvonne Strahovski. Sorry to break it to you.

I'm straight and play as femshep sometimes because I like looking at a chicks ass all day, than some random guys. I usually avoid the romances as it just feels a little weird.



But I'm all for lesbian romances, double standards FTW!

Why wouldn't I want my femshep to get some sweet loving?  I have to say this is the first time I have ever heard that a woman having sex with a man was gay.

I'm a straight male, and my cannon Shepard is male, but I've also played a FemShep and I romanced Kaidan 'cos I think that being straight is more natural (although I think that lesbians is totally hot)

I have trouble "separating" myself from my character enough to flirt with the male cast. Not a bad thought against gays by ANY means, I just am not one, and in the end my character's actions are going to end up being a reflection of what I want to do.

I always play a femshep myself, I dunno if I am gonna be starring at a character for 100 plus hours whilst playing the game, I would much rather I feast on the female form than some hairy arsed bloke.



As for the "sex" well my femshep likes the company of "girls" so that is a non issue. I remember one of the developers saying "90% of us will cheat on the existing love interest" erm no we won't because you didn't allow the sexual preference that my femshep is, so she has to stay faithful and find innovative ways to entertain herself with the reaper model.



I really don't understand where the OP is coming from though just because you have a female shep and you get them to do the nasty with a male character does not mean you have "gay issues". A lot of men watch hetrosexual porn which has men and women in it, does that make them gay ?
