men playing femshep and romancing other men??

There are countless excuses, for instance that they don't want to look at their male characters during the game, not realising that with that they just prove that they are looking at the game differently, pursuing sexual experiences in it. Don't get me wrong, I'm not judging, none of us are flawless and this isn't such a big deal for a teenager. However, if you're no longer a teenage boy or you're in a relationship, maybe even married and still prefer playing female characters, then you should probably stop and look at this warning sign and think about what's wrong.
On the other hand, playing with a randomly thought up "tough guy" or "pretty boy" can be almost as bad - again, not for a teenager, obviously -, because it means you're not at peace with your looks or who you are.

Did you IMPLY that ME2 was gay in any way..... Oh no! Good heavens!MUST. RESTRICT. ALL ROMANCES. TO FEMALES .NOW.....
Shouldn't all romances be restricted to maleshep since 80% of the players are men? It's inevitable that some of them will roll a femshep. Or, maybe all romances should be for femsheps and only be lesbian romances. Or there should be a check of players gender to make sure they don't play a Shepard that is not of the same sex. There we go.

so what i'm saying is why are STRAIGHT men actually playing a female character to sweet talk another man into bed? that is very confusing to me. i understand if youre a female, i understand if youre gay, but statistically speaking most of this forum should consist of straight males!
It shouldn't be confusing to you. And I know it isn't you're just flamebaiting, but I'll play. Straight guys' FemShep romance men because.....
Wait for it......
This is gonna be good.......
It'll blow your mind.........
Because...........
It's part of the game.
Immersing yourself in the female portion of the character, experiencing the dialogue and the romance options from that perspective and seeing what happens is literally half the game. I paid $70 for the thing and I'm going to get my $70 out of it by experiencing everything that was put into it.
I'm not going to throw away a good chunk of the game just because you think pixels can be gay.

It's called sexual frustration. Men who are not satisfied with their love life (or do not have one) enjoy controlling a female character in games, engaging in heterosexual romance, feeling that they can only do that if they have complete control over the woman participant.

You can shove your psuedo-psychology where the sun don't shine.
So... what? If a man plays a female character then he can't experience a romance (in other words, he can't experience all of the game content) without being labeled "sexually frustrated"? And what about people like me who play both males and females?
Seriously, people need to stop trying to project their own views and insecurities onto other people. I've been playing RPGs for about 15 years and I enjoy role-playing characters of both genders. And almost since Day 1 there have been people who "just don't understand" that. No, I'm not gay. No, I'm not bisexual. No, I'm not "sexually frustrated and projecting my unfulfiled desires onto my character" or any other bullsh-t. I just enjoy role-playing.

I'm pretty sure Rix Raw was being sarcastic. Especially given the bizarre restriction to post-teenage individuals Not to mention that his version of 'sexual frustration' doesn't exist or make sense.

Would thoughts about what other men are doing, such as playing as a women in a game and then spending brain processing power, time and energy to make a thread about it, be gay? Or is it a male hetrosexual thing?
FTW!!!!
Actually it's thinly-veiled homophobia, but whatever.

When I play an RPG, I'm not playing myself. I'm playing my character. When I'm presented with a choice, my concern isn't what I would do but rather what my character would do. People with little imagination might find that hard to understand.

Here are the reasons why THEY think you are ignorant.pdmeww44 wrote...
wow HOW AM I IGNORANT?
i alrdy said i have nothing against gay ppl
i just dont see why a STRAIGHT MAN attracted to WOMEN AND NOT TO MEN would want to roleplay as a female to flirt AGRESSIVELY with other men! I've seen the youtube videos, you rly do flirt aggressively!
am i the only one who sees how ridiculous that is?
1. a lot of people just want to see how they react and what they say
2. you can look at fem shep's butt in the scenes. You can custom make sheps face so it can be your exact definition of hot so they want to see her butt.
3. video games=/= real life
the first one is the biggest reason.

Really I think YOU, Mr. OP, need to sit down and have a long deep think about who has the real problem here. The person who is mature enough and knows they are just playing a videogame or someone who can't get past that they are talking to a man in a videogame.

Wow just wow...This is either a brilliantly written piece of satire, or the most misguided, illogically post I've read in a loooooong time.

Most of these topics (aside from the ones that are just pure unfiltered homophobia) stem from people with an inability to role-play. They can't step into someone else's shoes, so they play themselves. And as such they can't imagine why a male would want to play a female character, much less romance a male NPC (because clearly that would make them gay, right?).

Exactly. If I'm playing a female Shepard I'm playing as the character, not myself, and make choices based on how I've envisaged this version of the character.
