If you actually bothered to talk to anyone in DA:O you would know that all the party members are deep.
Indeed. The Dragon Age companions are some of the most full-fleshed out ones I've seen in the last five years.
If you think only Sten is profound, it's your loss.

I'm looking forward to the character, I would definitely like his sense of humor but I do agree with you on his looks. I feel like he's a copy cat of Allistair, I mean the guy could be his lost twin, I feel like they should have definitely mad him look unique. /sigh
thank you, (sigh) pretty much everyone here is crucifying me here cause I think differently. Does it hurt to have some alittle difference in how a character looks, especially if hes a companion.

So what do we have then? Another heir to the throne son-of-the-king character to steal spotlight from the PC, much like Alistair did in DAO1. "Oh you're the son of a Teyrn? Well I'm the brother of the dead King AND the son of the King who freed the country, even though I have zero claim as I am not a recognized Bastard, but somehow Ferelden's utterly bizarre rites of succession which make any random son of Maric>all, including current nobles, Teryns, and the ruling Queen. So yeah, one-up that!"
Sort of like [Enters the time machine] Baldur's Gate 2 spent more time covering Irenicus's story than exploring the protagonist's story, and all the revelations of your past got slammed down your throat the last minute in Throne of Bhaal. [exits the time machine]
And that's what Ander amounts to, to me, just another man who would be king who is probably the 'key' to something but needs the PC to act as facilitator and generally push the plot along so it gets done.
I hope I'm wrong but I'm not betting on it.

I dislike him already because of what he likely represents. I don't think that the fact he looks like Alistair is a coinkidink, seeing as how he looks VERY VERY much like Alistair and Cailan both [someone posted a comparison somewhere, they all look like brothers]

OMG maybe, it was no coincidence that Alistair and Calian looked alike, if that does happen, bioware is getting to old/predictable XD, story wise I mean. lol glad you're not crucifying me for speaking my mind.
Plus it does make sense, especially if choose..... how you play your game. Dont want to put spoilers:whistle:

It doesn't hurt, but you appear to have a pretty high regard for your own preferences if you honestly believe that nobody likes the character appearances or that we don't put any thought into them. The fact that modders have access to the same tools we do and can change them to match whatever their own preferences are is for their convenience.NoAngel89 wrote...

Oh -- incidentally, thank you very much for sending me a clarification on your true opinion while you backpedaled on the forums... and then blocked me so I could not respond. It's kind of funny really, but now at least I get to sleep easy at night knowing what you really think!

I thought the same about Jacob and Grunt ofor ME2, and they ended up being awesome. Bioware knows how to write incredible characters, and I've only come across two that I hate. And those two were written, well, one of them was written well, is a favorite by many, and the other, well, he's a douche.
You should go in with an open mind, imo.

ROFL. Thanks for making my morning tea a little more enjoyable.
As to the character, though it's already been said, Sten was cool; but a party full of Stens would be boring as hell, because if they all kept questioning my command and my gender for pete's sake, I'd either kill them all in their sleep or just tell my entire party to leave.
Also...believe it or not, people in crappy situations DO still joke. The ability to make your fellows laugh when **** hits the fan is an amazing trait, imo.

Wonder if they are adding a single spell to each Tier, whole new tier sets, or what with the new spells...
More on topic though, I think Ander seems like a decent character, but a little annoying- and generic. He is a mage, an apostate, is that all he has going for him?

I hold fast to my opinion that it is just a cruel joke by the devs to get us to speculate and speculate and stay up at night pondering it only to reveal nothing at all about his history in Awakening itself!!
