I have installed a couple of mods, well one! The camp storage chest. I have also noticed that there are mods for character dialogues as well. some say they fix bugs, etc.

I quite like having little upgrades and was considering installing a few more. I was wondering what others experiences were using mods?

Haven't touched them. Yet. Probably won't, as most of them are just items and changing your character. Maybe after Awakening I'll look to see about any mods that are quests or completely different adventures that don't use my grey warden.

I use Dialogue Tweaks. It is very well done, and it works as advertised. It also fixes end-game bugs, which are really annoying to me.

Can you install Dialogue tweaks during a game or do they have to be done prior to a playthrough?

I did it during a play-through, and had no problems.

I have the enhanced textures installed as well as the additional hair/eye/skin colors & hair styles. Totally worth it!

I've been reading up on the Winterforge mod. So far it sounds good, but it could be overpowering. However, it seems the player can recolor armor and stuff in game with it. Which would be good, seeing as how boring and unimaginative armor is in the vanilla game.

Its good to see positive feedback. I have think I will go ahead and install some. Any absolute recommendations as to what mods are essential? I have just got the DAModder util from Dragon Nexus.

I did like the idea of being able to modify the game as I was an old school RPGer and it it helps me enjoy that element of being able to adapt a game to your tastes as it progresses so much more.

Well, none are really essential, but there are quite a few on DragonAgeNexus that will tweak the game.

However, I'll not uninstall Dialogue Tweaks. No. Never. :)

The other one I like a lot is Pineappletree's vibrant colors. It adds skin, hair, and eyecolors, but that's not essential, just cosmetic. I do like the way my PC's hair and eye-colors now look. I think she looks smashing.

too many to list... Dialogue Tweaks, Combat Tweaks, Advanced Tactics, Improved Atmosphere, all the major chargen packs (Pineappletree's, Be Hairy, etc) just to name a few

oh, and Sacred Ashes inspired robes for Morrigan (less skin showing... just sexy and practical) ...it deserves special mention

Never used 'em. I know they are meant to make the game easier and less of a frustration to me. But its all the same really.

The only things I use are some dialoge mods to fix some of the endgame dialoge bugs and extra hairstyles because, well, you just can never have too many hair styles.

i have the black templar armor. best looking armor in my opinion. i have alley of murders, which is a playable mod within the game. i have the chest too. flip through the mods here. there's some really nice ones that won't mess up the original game with overpowered stuff.

I would highly recommend the Winter Forge mod, the ability to recolor and upgrade armor and weapons makes it worth while to me. For instance if you get the Warden Commander armor at a low level, say its made of steel, you can use the winter forge to upgrade as you level up instead of selling and buying it back from a merchant. Also giving things dragonbone level stats combined with the look of silverite can make weapons and armor much better to look at. Once you get the hang of it you can also copy stats from a looted weapon and make a new one with whatever weapon model you choose, same goes for armor.

This is the only mod I can see myself using, other than new quest mods and bug fixes, but if I did, I'd be sure to keep the stats consistant with in game items. No +20 strength, etc. A note about the bug fix mods. If modders want to change dialogue or epilogue slides, I with they'd do it in a separate mod from one fixing broken triggers or animation. I very much want the fixes, but I don't want to have gameplay changes forced on me to do so. If I wanted those things, I'd rather download them separately.
