If my memory serves me correctly about this time after the release of ME 1 I was still in the middle of finishing my first playthrough. With ME 2 I'm now half way through my second playthrough on insane. What happened to all the content? I'm beginning to think that I have paid full price for half a game, and now EA/BW expect me to pay even more money for the other half of the game via DLC.

So, what happened to all the content?

Guess why they invented Cerberus Network? They need a justified way to put the rest of the game in there. Like the Hammerhead, the settings was already included in the vanilla game, but you have to download the actual vehicle as soon as they finish it.

I've no problem with it myself, as long as it gets all the data it was supposed to have, eventually.

The game is 40 hours long. Most games aren't half that.

Geez I've played SP FPS games that have lasted longer on the first playthough than ME 2. I know that traditionally FPS games SP are very short, but the main focus is on MP for most of them which extends the life of the game. What is EA/BW excuse with ME 2?

I'm sorry but that is plain BS. Doing every mission, getting enough credits/resources for upgrades, exploring all dialogue options takes around 20 hours, if that, on insanity. DA:O is 40-60 hours long, ME 2 is lucky to clock in at 20. Even Borderlands has a longer playthrough and I thought that it was short.

Oh ok, you're a troll. Got it.

Mass Effect 2 has something like 16 hours of recorded dialogue in it. If you rush through every mission to pick up your party, skip through every dialogue, and do not do any loyalty or side quests, you're still looking at about 15 hours.

How can I be a troll? That would be like me calling you an insipid fanboy who will say anything in order to defend the game, even if its a blatant lie. Hmm, just like you are doing now.

So, where is all of the content? COMPARED to ME 1 it feels like there is only half a games worth of content which I have paid full price for.

I can live with some of the complaints of hardcore RPG fans, but saying that ME 1 was somehow longer than Mass Effect 2 ist just bull****. Unless you explored every planet by foot.

Mass Effect 1 took longer to do a completionist run on because of the MAKO, and the crazy number of side-quests where you needed to drive it.

The thing is, in ME 1 there was content to explore. I'm not saying it was great content but it was there. In ME 2 there is no content. So, where is the content that I paid full price for?

Most reviewers have clocked ME2 in at 30-40 hours for your first run. Troll all you want, anyone who's played the game is going to smile and nod and walk away :)

Not ture at least in my experience. ME1 took me 24-25 hours doing everything i could find including trips back places to double check!

Whereas ME2 took me 34-35 and i still had 2 sidequests left to resolve. (admittedly small ones though)

Sure just like you are going to do after that post because you know you are wrong and blatantly lieing in order to defend the game. If you care to read all of the posts, instead of trying to drown out any rational discussion by loudly beating your fanboy drum in pure ignorant bliss, you will see that I'm not the only one who is wondering where is all the content in ME 2, which I paid full price for.

Oh lol, are you that simple that you believe what reviewers right. That says it all.

20 hours you must be kidding. My first ME 2 playthrough clocked in at 30+ hours and that was on Normal Difficulty.

I don't know what to say, I'm close to 40 now and I've done everything in Mass Effect 1 (doing a re-run). Almost all side-quests done now and still have the end of Noveria to do, and Virmire. 2-3 other side-quests remain as well as the Geth quests. I don't get how people can play through that fast. I even used maps to tell me where the resources are when riding the MAKO.

PS: You can speed run ME1 in 4 hours.

PPS: World of Warcraft has about 100x more content than either game. If you want to call "Go here and kill X number of enemies" content. Which is what ME1's sidequests are most akin to.

Oh, and most posters here are confirming 30-40 hours, so good day sir :)

Good bye. Make sure to drop back in and read more posts which confirm that ME 1 has more content than ME 2. Without your obnoxious fanboy drumming we might even be able to have a rational discussion.

Did the OP go through half the game with his eyes shut? It took me 27+ hours just to do the main plot and loyalty missions.

First playthrough, normal: 40h 22m according to my newest savegame.

Second playthrough, veteran: 35h 39m.

And this doesn't include reloading games due to death or messing up a quest. So add about an hour or so. In both games I've done everything possible. Explored every system 100%, done all side missions, upgraded everything and heard everything my crew has to say.

So how does one cut this time in half, I might wonder? Skipping dialog with <spacebar> seems like it would cut a few hours. Knowing the location of every quest and where it takes, to do them efficiently might also cut an hour. A cookiecutter build might also speed things up. But still... to cut 20 hours from a game lasting around 40. Is it worth doing all this things then? I mean, why play at all? It would be like watching Lord of the Rings: Extended Trilogy and skipping all the scenes that doesn't have combat...
