Then, like now, he found that he was in a very small minority, but didn't let that stop him from browbeating anyone who didn't agree with terms like "lazy" and other pejoratives I can't be arsed to go back to the thread to look up.
I figured he got a forum vacation after he started spamming the main page in frustration.

My first play through of ME2 took 31 hours, and everyone survived. And I wonder how much time was taken up by probing. I'm pretty sure a developer said ME2 had 40% more content than ME1 but I don't see it.

The OP is the same person who, about a week ago, posted a massive trollfest entitled "Is bloated dialogue and cutscenes killing Mass Effect" or something to that effect. Essentially he was complaining that there wasn't enough combat, too much talking, etc. and that combat didn't carry the same weight as character interactions in terms of gameplay direction. At least, that was what it seemed.

Yes, that makes perfect sense. You, as a insipid fanboy, are more than happy to denigrate anyone who is making an observation about the game as a troll. Its a shame that we can not have a rational discussion about anything in conjunction with this game without condescending shrill little juvenile fanboys, such as yourself, beating your fanboy drum and trying to drown out anyone who does not want to bend over and take one from EA/BW.

Add to that the drastically reduced sense of scale through no mako and smaller hubs, and it's easy to see why it seems so much shorter.

Geez I've played SP FPS games that have lasted longer on the first playthough than ME 2. I know that traditionally FPS games SP are very short, but the main focus is on MP for most of them which extends the life of the game. What is EA/BW excuse with ME 2?
Bulls**t have you played any TPS or FPS games longer than ME2 what have you been smoking? And multiplayer is the same thing over and over again, the only good multiplayer game i have heard of is L4D. Halo and Gears of war suck compaired to ME2 (In my oppinion)

I don't think it necessarily makes one a fanboy when they challenge a claim that a game takes only 20 hours to play when it has over 15 hours of dialogue. The assertion that it was too short was a dodgy one to begin with, as for it to make any sense at all implies you've skipped and speedrunning it - in which case complaining about length is nothing short of idiotic.
I don't suppose you did make the post he's referring to?

My playthroughs were roughly the same for both (24ish), but ME2 feels a lot shorter, because so much time is spent recruiting the squad. The main plotline was only 4-5 hours. That is the problem.

I would say that is a fine example of, how do they say it, '0wned'?
I don't really think anything more needs to be said here. If the game is 'bloated' then it can't realistically be too short. Taiko, pick one thing to complain about and stick with it. You're coming across as someone who'd complain that the sky is blue.

Please put what I said into context and you will see it makes perfect sense why I am asking about what happened to all the content? The game has more cut-scenes and dialogue than it does combat. What makes it even worse is that the dialogue options have no impact on the game. You can just pick the middle option and its the same as picking the paragon or renegade option. Why? I hope you can put your little drum down and understand this. It is because THERE IS NO CONTENT in the game! So, I am following on from that thread with the perfectly reasonable and logical question,
What happen to all the content?
Just because the game has over-bloated cut-scenes does not give it more content, and it is one of the main reasons why it is so short. Whoever came up with the "15 hours" of dialogue is lieing through their teeth.

Are we playing the same game? how did you get 40 hrs? Max 30 hrs and that is if i mess around for about 5 hrs or so doing nothing useful. I have about 3 N7 missions left , (i know cause i have the guide) im at 30 hrs but for 3.5 hrs i did mining cause i was bored and didn't feel like a new playthrough at the moment.
Considering that, i will again say max 30 hrs, and i didn't skip any dialogue what so ever (on veteran).

The mako added a bunch of time that was very cookie cutter. I'd say in terms of content it is roughly the same. However a game is not required to have more content for the sake of haing more. Mass effect 2 told a story, it told it well, and had many side narratives. Add in that you have paragon and renegade replays to double the time (to say nothing of classes) and een if it clocked in at 20 you have 40 hours. That is standard for an rpg and outstrips a fps.
I must be getting better at playing RPG but Planetscape took me nearly 60 hours to complete. So did DA:O and NWN for that matter.

If my memory serves me correctly about this time after the release of ME 1 I was still in the middle of finishing my first playthrough. With ME 2 I'm now half way through my second playthrough on insane. What happened to all the content? I'm beginning to think that I have paid full price for half a game, and now EA/BW expect me to pay even more money for the other half of the game via DLC.
So, what happened to all the content?
I'll just put this here.

I'm sorry but that is plain BS. Doing every mission, getting enough credits/resources for upgrades, exploring all dialogue options takes around 20 hours, if that, on insanity. DA:O is 40-60 hours long, ME 2 is lucky to clock in at 20. Even Borderlands has a longer playthrough and I thought that it was short.
i havent started the IFF and am over 26 hrs in

There were side missions, a mission for every squad member, and story missions. The story played out this chapter from start to finish, as did all the missions. You got everything you paid for, the dlc will be mostly unrelated to the main quest if history is any indicator. You are not required to purchase it and much of it is free. Enjoy your replays which will put your game time at a good 40 to 60 depending on what you do. Also realize the middle of a trilogy rarely has more story than the first or last. Ultimately it is up to you to decide if you want to purchase the dlc. Alot of it is free, if you feel you paid to much, sell your copy and wait to get a second hand one for significantly cheaper. Otherwise realize that sometimes games are, to quote Wrex "Worse than you hoped and better than you expected", Most people are pleased, if you are not... better luck next time.

No, the game took me less than 25 hours to complete doing everything. Just as importantly with ME 1, due to all the content, I could replay the game and unlock different skills etc. With ME 2 I can replay the game and watch the same over-bloated cut-scenes and that is all. There is no real content in this game. Hence the question:
Where is all the content?

I guess it depends on what you consider content. I considered the game to have as much if not more, your opinion differs from mine. Your logic says 2 is greater than 1 mine says 3 is greater than 2... I would suggest not purchasing any dlc because if you didn't enjoy how the content was handled in this one chances are you won't enjoy the dlc, there must have been some minor adjustmant to the formula that most of us don't notice that was a primary point for you. It is unfortunate, but you are in the minority. I hope the next games content is handled in a way that is easier for you to digest, so long as I still like it. I would suggest renting mass effect 3 before buying it to make sure it is the right decision for you.
