... wouldn't it be stupid? I mean, he's imprinted to the Warden, why shouldn't he follow him this time? Unless he died from all these darkspawn blood he swallowed while biting them, but there's a chance he could be okay since the rest of the party swam in darkspawn blood and survived as well. I have a feeling that he won't appear in Awakening and we won't get any explanation which sucks.

good point. I'd probably be pretty hard getting him to go away once he's imprinted :o

Dogs have short lives. He could have passed away during those 7 months. Plus he was infected with the taint (with the exception of human noble's dog)

It's never actually said the age of dog, right? So yes, it could be that he becomes old and dies sooner or later. Perhaps it will be in the keep, as a cameo, but not as a joinable NPC. After all, this role would fit perfectly for many NPCs, like Zevran or Leliana. That's at least my guess.

Dogs live short lives?

Mine was eighteen years old when he passed on....

Personally though I do hope that dog is included in the expansion.

Doesn't Alistair call him a puppy?

Even if he doesn't appear, there's no reason to think he's dead. Maybe this just isn't an appropriate mission to take a dog on, maybe it's best if he stay in the royal kennel, maybe you think he's fought enough darkspawn for a while and needs a break. He has to be with you all the time in Origins because you have no home. That is no longer the case. My dog is rather fond of me, too, but I don't take her with me every time I go on a trip. ;)

My guess is that he will be the trainer of the canine wardens. So he stays in his crib, WITH pool in front.

I have to believe the hound will follow you through the entire series. I mean there is no reason not to include him, his voice actor can be paid in dog treats.

Lol! Yes, and most potential dialogue has already been recorded. ;)

The dog should be turned into a pet, instead of a companion.

Maybe the Warden has a home and when you return your Dog is there. My hound was a bite away from killing the Archdemon I spamed the crap out of the Balistas and Dogmeat rushed in when he was 2 hits away from dieing I ran in and stole the glory The kill sequence was awesome in the Blood Dragon Armor almost **** worthy

YES! Thats exactly it! I hardly ever take her into battle, I told her in the final battle it was too dangerous!!
However of course I still want her around!

I agree, I love dog but I never use him post lothring because he ends up rather useless when compared to other characters.

Yeah they have to give you a dog, even if it's not the same one you had in origins

It would be utterly ridiculous if the mabari warhound doesn't return in this one.

Well i am just thinking what kind of abilities do you want dog to have on lvl 35? when dog is lvl 22 it doesn't have any more talents.

On the other side it is a cool character. but that doesn't mean we won't see him maybe a cameo ... there isn't a lot of info how Awakenings goes and who will be back just as a cameo. Maybe Sten picked up the dog as he was very fond of him... who knows

maybe your next pet is a griffin ... or a unicorn!

It would be fairly easy to come up with a reason, here's one.......puppies, imagine how much stronger the Fereldan GWs would be if every GW got a mabari hound imprinted on them. It would double the fighting strength on the Fereldan GWs at a stroke, so you as the GW commander have established a breeding program to produce your own breed of mabari.

It would also help to improve the Fereldan GWs in the eyes of the nobility, since the Fereldans are well known for their love of their hounds.

Some of you seem to accept everything Bioware does and smile.

Oh everything I did in DAO was for naught and will not be recognized in Awakening - strike!

The DLC-items will not be carried over? Fantastic idea!

My dog is mysteriously gone? - I always wanted it this way.

Now, if Bioware would only remove the skillsystem and combat from the game I would be sooooo happy...

Without criticism BEFORE a game is released we will accomplish nothing and even assure the company that even bad decisions will be accepted by everyone.

I want the dog to return, but in the form of a Ranger pet for the Warden, rather than as a fully fledged party member. He's not worth the space, but it would be nice to be able to bring him along!

I don't think the mabari would be that great of a companion at higher levels, but he shouldn't just be forgotten or left in Denerim. He should be at the new warden HQ with you. Throw in a scene where a warden recruit asks who's in charge while you're gone and let the mabari be one of the choices.
