it is all speculation what happens with dog... we can do that with all the characters except ohgren and then cry about it how bioware is evil. or just wait till the game is out or have more info

maybe he dies saving his master in the introscene

theres no mention of dog anywhere, i'm a human noble and if dogs not in awakenings with me well now that is stupid. Its not like i kicked him or never fed him or locked him out in the cold so why would he not be with me. Come on bioware have a heart don't run of with our hounds it's not nice

Great. You do your thing. I'll do mine, and I won't give you any sanctimonious crap.

truth hurts, unless you have the script of the game we don't know what happens to most characters.. maybe dog choked on a dogbone, maybe zevran tripped and fell on his own blade, maybe leilana had a vision of the maker to commit suicide to be closer to him.

everyone has their favourite character, i am fond shale but she is not in it, prolly killing pigeons in tevinter.

if the game doesn't give a reason, then use your rp-skills with a dab of fantasy and make your own reason

The dog hardly effects the the story and dialogue/interaction with NPC's. The only change would be more talents, thats it, literaly.

Give us the dog.

*facepalm*

Truth hurts? No, you're just annoying.

Of course it's all speculation. So what? Does the fact that people want to speculate harm you in some way? Why do you feel the need to give people crap about it? Does that little attitude make you feel superior or something? If you're not interested in speculation, don't read it. Nobody is holding a gun to your head. What the hell do you get out of acting like a sanctimonious jerk? And why are there so many like you on this site?

nah, I'm not making a fuss about what isn't in the game and demanding it to be in it otherwise it is crap.

i'm more curious what it offers not what it doesn't offer. maybe you see ohgren riding it in the beginning. that would be awesome

Just to remember that return to ostagar allows you to get the dog if you didn't do it at the beginning!

I can't believe dev are so "false" as to make us wait a month for a so so programming problem and take it all away ! you should be ashamed !

I agree, I love dog but I never use him post lothring because he ends up rather useless when compared to other characters.

Is that supposed to be funny? He's extremely dangerous at higher levels.

He's certainly a viable companion, from the moment you meet him, till the end of the game.

You can use dog as a constant "5th companion" with a mod that's available. He basically goes in your summons slot (which can be a problem if you're a mage or ranger, but otherwise is not) and you can summon/remove him with a dog whistle. I found that mod kept him around under most circumstances (including area transitions) but caused some weird bugs from time to time. As the quasi-5th, you could even give him items, interact, and set his behavior, the only thing you couldn't do was level him up.

I like that mod, but it was a kludge, it often seemed to interfere with other things, and went all screwy if you tried to summon something else, Bio should simply give us a 5th "pet"/"temporary companion" slot where creatures like Dog or Ranger (or other) Pets can go.

As I said before, I liked that mod, because I was never choosing Dog as a companion (he has no dialogue, and no interactions except when he fetches weird stuff for you or growls at something) per se but I liked having him around for "backup".

If you're a mage and you have him set on defensive, he'll usually pull stuff off you, although as I said I've found the defensive AI in the game ... a bit screwy.

Dog at higher levels with overwhelm, nemesis, etc. will eat the face of any orange-colored human-size boss (Branka, Blood Mage Leader, etc.) and will never be picked up and used as a chew toy by dragons.

Extra dog slot mod for PC (I've not tried it, but plan to): http://social.biowar...m/project/1822/

But the bottom line, folks, is that with the pictures being released and a confirmed buy-it-on-shelves date, there's *zero* chance that any changes of this sort will be made. I'd like the dog, romances to continue, and another 100 hours of playtime. I won't get any of those three, so I'll have to content myself with what I *will* get and hope that DA2 is as much better than DA:O as most people seem to think ME2 is than the original ME.

A high level Dog should have abilities similar to Bolt (as portrayed in his tv show) Having Dog Super Bark dark spawn would be sweet.

Exactly.  I am on my 4th playthrough and in every game I have taken dog to the final battle.  He (or she I suppose) is very viable.

On my 3rd playthough , with my elf warrior, against the high dragon, he was the only one left near the end of the fight (after the dragon had killed Morrigan and Alistair and had my elf in his jaws) and killed the dragon.  For that kind of loyalty I consider him a permanent member of my team.

My dog ran away with all my DLC items, that's why neither are in the expansion.

Throw in a scene where a warden recruit asks who's in charge while you're gone and let the mabari be one of the choices.

That is a stellar idea considering he isn't going to be recruitable.

Awakening is already looking to be a no buy for me, but if my Mabari isn't even present there's no way in hell I'm buying this glorified DLC package.

He can't have died. If you import your character into Witch Hunt after playing through Awakenings, and your warden had recruited Dog int he original campaign, he's right there. (If you are using an Orlesian warden or didn't recruit Dog, then the mabari in the story was a gift from Bann Teagan after defeated the archdemon)

The reason Dog was absent in Awakening is given in Witch Hunt.

He was breeding mabari puppies because so many mabari died in the Blight :)
