What happens later in the game if you betrayed him?  Any lasting consequences like not being able to become a blood mage?  Or do you need his help later on?

Perhaps. I didn't take that path so I wouldn't know where Jowan specifically ends up, having sided with him early on. What I can tell you is becoming a Blood Mage is tied to how your resolve a certain quest later on.

He escapes reguardless of you actions I think just the way he reacts to you latter on is different just want to know which path leads to a more drmatic story and if you get more benefits later on one way opr the other.

If you betrayed him the Circle and the old man still likes you and holds you in high regard which if you ever need a favor from them...

Well you will still get to meet him later on again, and obviously he gets into more trouble. lol

Obviously I just want to know the pros and cons of betraying him or siding with him.

Well imo i think betraying him would be much better because by helping him i think would land you with some disapproval from your companions especially wynne since she utterly hates blood mages. I wouldn't even call it betraying after all he has done and he still got cheek to call you friend...

you will understand once you hit redcliffe questline.

Well you don't know he's a blood mage just a friend trying to get out of being mined wiped which I suppose is understandable I guess.  I highly doubt you get disapproval from your companions for helping him  this time.

You havent finished the mage origin questline then. Its pretty obvious seeing how he escapes.

He escapes the same way reguardless but you encounter him latter on and what you do now may effect his outcome.

I just read that Jowan is the one that sends you into the fade to learn blood magic so you do need him latter on.

Anyone know the diffrence if there is one on helping him or not?

I heard you also have the choice of killing him once he's in prison so if you let him out maybe it doesn't make a difference. I would of thought it would be more interesting if you had to hunt him down.

In evil Redcliff (the version of redcliff where you leave the town to die instead of helping to defend it), Jowan becomes a rather integral part of the story. If you betray him early on you might have issues with evil Redcliff later. However, my character isn't a mage origin so I am not sure what would have happened as a mage origin.

You don't need Jowan to learn blood magic later on. However, whether or not you can unlock the specialization is based on how you resolve that quest line, which involves some pretty sketchy choices.

Whether you help him or not just determines the reception from him when you meet him later on, that's about it.

So he decides to help you out either way I take it.

What about any reaction to the circle afterwords?

The way blood mage gets picked up, nobody knows you did it except you. I haven't finished the entire redcliffe line so I don't know jowans ultimate fate. I helped him in the mage origin and let him help in redcliffe castle.

If you betray him tho I wonder if you get the option to let him help in redcliffe castle

SPOILER BELOW! DO NOT READ UNLESS YOU WANT TO KNOW!!

You can get the Blood Mage speciality from the demon possessing Conor as part of a deal to let it live and keep its contract over the kids soul. Evil written all over that..however I did get the demon to give up the contract, give me Blood Mage and not have to fight it at all thanks to my all powerful charming self. ^.^ (Think I had Master Coercion then.) This option is probly only avaliable if you are a mage ofcorse. Not sure if you can do it with others. As for Jowans fate...well you can kill him at the cell, have him executed or ask to have him freed and he will be send to the circle anyways. As for getting him to leave the castle once you set him free from the cell instead of trying to help...dont know about that. I did some reading and he was intended to be another party member but was cut early on. CURSES!!!

Hope that answers all of the questions incase you didnt know already.
