Everywhere in the forums, i see these wierd pictures which state like "i support this" or "Thane for president" or something like that. What are these and how do i get one? ^^ they look cool and am i wrong in guessing that these are signature pictures for different groups?

Some of them seem to be done using Signature Maker. I havent used that software in two years, so do not know what goodies the newest version lets you make. But many of the signatures remind me of that.

If you want to have a look. It's rather easy to use.

Hey Melkathi, thanks for the advice and it was really fun creating something of my own ^^ .. but can you help me a bit more? as you see, my signature-image has been rendered very small, like a thumbnail; and i know for a fact that the uploaded picture is 400x100. I followed your instructions in the "How to link to an image and have the image appear in the post"-thread that you posted here in the forum to the letter; i put it on photobucket and used the correct URL and tags. [ ] .. what have i overlooked?

i tried uploading to different sites and linking from there, i've tried changing the settings for the picture by right-clicking on it and i've even tried basic html. doesn't work.. :S what's wrong? why is the picture cropped down to this puny image?

I've heard that sig pic size is capped. Last I heard it's 450 (or 500) x 34. Can't swear to it though.

Sorry for the late reply. Yes, it seems the forum caps image sizes. That's a good thing though in my opinion. Otherwise you always end up with at least one person who insists on having signatures that take up the whole screen in both directions

Oh and hte signature does look good. Maybe the text could have a tad more contrast to the background, but not sure it would need that. I do like it the way it is, a lot :D

Mirrors on a site are alternative sites from where you can download a file. This way they reduce the load one site has and increase the download speed for everyone.
You can choose to download a file from the site itself or any of the Mirrors. They all are the same file.

I think you can get up to 540 pixels horizontal, I am not sure what the vertical max is.

My info comes from this person:

Shiroukai wrote...

It's formatted for fitting in the new
size limit, it's 34*450 pixels. Although 34*500 might be fine as well,
but I didnt test it.

This info is from this thread:

Signature Images (DAO) - sample

Dunno if the info was ever confirmed. Confirmation would be cool. I might give that Sig Maker thing a try. :)

Got it! Trying it out now. Mirror 1 failed, Mirror 2 & 3 are dangerous sites, my anti-virus had to protect me from the site, Mirror 4 succeeded. Mirror 5 I didn't need to try, so exercise extreme caution.

So, I feel a bit embarrassed asking this question, but how do you set your signature in your profile? I really can't find the options to edit it. Like I said, probably a terrible question, but thank for your help in advance!

Thanks for the heads-up! This wasn't completely intuitive, though perhaps that's solely my experience :)

No idea. Since the new version is no-vista and I am using vista at the moment, I haven't used it.

But there are dozens of other similar programs, just open the search engine of your choice and put as keywords a selection of the following:
forum signature userbar creator maker

you should be spoiled for choice. Some are more comlex than others.

Many thanks for this info! :) I deleted the other sig make above. I couldn't build the Sig Pic of my design on it. It's Text management is inadequate. I think i'll take your advice on surfing around for alternatives. Perhaps i'll find one that's more my style.

I found a Sig Maker that looks like I might manage it:

The Userbar Designer!

But one aspect that concerns me is that it says it can be saved to an 'image hosting site'. Is it possible to save it to my computer instead? (So it can then be uploaded to my Album, then from there, placed in my Sig?) I don't use any image hosting sites, & don't wanna need one just for a sig pic.

Looking at it now.

Hmm, seems it automatically uploads to imagehost. Which means you'll have to download it from imagehost afterward. No probelm. Just view the image online and right-click on it. You should either get a View Image option or a Save Image As option. If you get the view, click that and you'll get the save afterwards :)

Testing to see if it's possible to make Sig Pics with BBcode in them that's usable.

Nope. Looks like that's a negative.
