Has anyone else experenced this.

I started my installation at 10am this morning, it is now 17:20 and I still am only half way through the extraction process, having only just started extracting the texture files.  This is from the standard DVD edition on the PC.  Getting really rather annoyed now, given that its taken so long I could probably have downloaded the entire game by now!

Computer is admitidlly towards the lower end of the power level (dule core intel running @ 2Ghz, 2gb ram, Windows Vista 32bit, installing on the second partition) but I've never had a problem with a game taking so dammed long to install before.  Mostly I'm annoyed because I 'm heading away for the weekend in a couple of hours time, so if it dosnt install now ish I cant play my new game untill next week.  (which given the green bar is only just past half way on the extration screen I cant see happening.)

Starting to wish I'd waited for the PS3 verison (though of course due to some reason we cant get that in England until the 20th...)

I had this problem with Mass Effect the first time I installed it, though not to such extremes. You can try to cancel the install, copy the contents of the DVD to your HD and run it from there. To me it was related to my DVD-ROM having gone wonky, and taking forever to find files.

When I reinstalled Mass Effect later, from a new DVD-ROM, it took like 20 minutes or so.

Thanks for the confirmation, I did suspect that it must be an issue at my end (I would have expected to see another thread with similar problems somewhere on the first 10 pages of this forum if others were experiencing problems.)

Will just leave it going and it will at least be finished by the time I get back on Sunday, then I guess at some point go and get a new dvd drive...

Thanks for the help
