We are not retreating, we are advancing in a different direction!

When I get into a fight I always look for the nearest corner or corridor so I can run back to it to break the line of sight of ranged enemies and to funnel the mobs. Great when fighting way to fight enemy mobs. I call it a Tactical Retreat, Does anyone else use this method?

Yes.
Of course, when a certain US Marine made that quote famous during the Korean war, they really still were "advancing," since they were deep in enemy territory and surrounded.

Corners are my best friend! Especially when there are a bunch of archers or mages

Yeah, the best thing is to pull all the melee enemies around the corner. Then after you're done with them you individually pull the ranged into the corners and nuke them.Hellebore5000 wrote...

It's also useful when you want to deploy traps. I set a bunch in a doorway, then force the mob to follow me through and enjoy the havoc it creates. Muahahaha, mine is an evil laugh.

Well, I agree on this tactic haha. In this game you're usually surrounded, expecially after cutscenes with enemy bosses.... soooo, be "brave" and run to hide behind corners for a counterattack! (poor Ser Cauthrien!)

But, but, real men just kill her where she stands!

Only in certain areas will I try to bait the enemy. I like to bulldog straight through and go toe to toe.

I've only attempted this with two BM's, good stuff.

I just finally got her down without a mage in the group (video in the archer tank thread). It's a lot of fun. And a heck of a lot smarter to just run out

I only use this against revenants when they try to pull. I try to keep Wynne behind the closest pillar, wall....whatever the hell I can find.

Brave Sir Robin ran away...
bravely ran away away...
When danger reared its ugly head, he bravely turned his tail and fled.
Yes, brave Sir Robin turned about, and valiantly, he chickened out.
Bravely taking to his feet, he beat a very brave retreat. A brave retreat by brave Sir Robin.
For all the baiters out there, like me.

For Revenants I just taunt and point the thing away from the group and fight it in the room it spawns in. Worked for Gax... as well although his life drain and AE attacks were a problem. Life drain was not mitigated by heroic defense.
But yeah I tactically retreat a bit. The last fight I had that was really difficult was the assassins Crow's quest for my tank. I taunted everything hehe. Almost to the landsmeet and want to defeat Cauthrian this go around. My rogue couldn't do it last time.

Revenants are really annoying. The one in Redcliffe had me right in the open surrounded by the undead, with no sharp corners or tight corridors. Suffice to say it was a long fight.

Revenants become easier ever time you fight them. The last time I faught the Revenant I stood toe to toe and beat it down in Bear form.
Bear form never seems to miss and having 25 armor penetration the Revenant dropped fast.

Yeah, like Ogres. The first Ogre I fought was hard as hell, but eventually they become no trouble.

No dishonor fighting with a wall behind your back - sure limits the backstabs :-)
And no dishonor running like a scared rabbit...back to a mob of your friendlies, like pushing veggies through a blender.
Gotta love the "H" key :-)

Those who run away live to fight another day!
At least run until you can even up the odds!

I'm afraid I make a uh tactical retreat my opening move in almost every encounter, even when a direct attack will easily succeed. I think they need to fix the AI so that enemies are less willing to chase you to break me of this habit.
