Vista is basically a beta that Micro$loth decided to get paying customers to test for them. Even Windows ME is better than Vista, so if you're still using it (either of them) upgrade to Windows 7 ASAP.

Dunno about doing both puders with 1 copy, but even if nothing else, get Windows 7 because Windows 7 uses less resources than Vista to perform it's tasks. This is very good for ya because RAM costs an arm & a leg.

Windows 7 is fantastic. It's like graphically like vista, but performs even better than xp, and never once have I had a system crash

I got my laptop April.....lol I still hate Vista simply cause it is a Ram eater( i would use a less appropriate word but don't want to get this locked or anything) but Vista is good enough where i don't have any complaints my only problem is my laptop has 4gb or ram and it freezes for about a min or so using 64 bit ..while my desktop using 64 bit with 3gb and doesn't freeze

Windows 7 is little more than Vista 1.5 so please, don't be so churlish folks. I know Vista got terribly bad press at launch, but it did turn into an amazing operating system and at this point in time, Vista still dominates Windows 7 in the speed stakes. I think shutting down is the only thing Windows 7 does faster, no matter the lesser RAM draw.

That said, Windows 7 is a good upgrade. Just be careful if you're thinking of going 64-bit. I've managed to get everything but my on-board sound working beautifully. But if I had not had a usb headset lying around, I would've had to buy an actual sound card for Mass Effect 2 >.<

i have 64 bit vista, so 64 bit 7 shouldn't be too much trouble if i ever upgrade. i hate vista! i got my laptop in late april and it has crashed a ton. i'll take xp any day of the week over vista.

Vista just sucks, I have windows 7 ultimate 64bit and love it! You should upgrade. Plus windows 7 runs better then vista and uses less ram.

ie. I don't use computers for anything besides turning them on and off.

We have 2 machines here at work with Windows 7, 10 machines with Vista, 2 with Windows 2000 and 2 with Windows XP.

The XP and 2000 machines are terrible and keep crashing or locking up, the Vista machines have performed slow but admirably for a few years, but only the Windows 7 machines run perfectly for me as a web-based developer.

Win7 is Vista minus all the crap. It runs better. But it's not much different, otherwise. If you want the machine for gaming, and you have the extra cash, an upgrade to Win7 would do you well. If you just want the machine to run and you already have a patched version of Vista, there wont be enough of a difference for it to be worth it.
