I used Shale to kill Flemeth. Morrigan and Wynne were doing ranged attacks with their staffs. I used Wynne to cast Heroic Offense, Heroic Defense, Regeneration and Heal on Shale and the hero char. Hero character spammed the saw sword to try to get critical hits. Shale should have the right crystals. Shield wall helps if you have it. Use Taunt to keep Flemeth's attention on Shale.

Trust me when I say this. There are two easy ways to kill the dragons. One way is to use a character with Fire/Spirit Resist gear, and use them as a tank for ranged attacks, like Soteria said.

The other way is to use Shale (a Bear would work too) as a tank, and have everyone else use ranged attacks. This is how I do things. Why? Shale and the shapeshifted forms can't be grabbed.

No Grab = Easy Win.

Yea flemuth is not hard her fire breath and melee hit hard so you don't want squishy characters close to her at all with or without FR gear on. Best to get a tank in FR gear on her taunt and face her away from your ranged attackers but make sure you healer can still heal your tank with out having to move.

Her fire doesn't hit hard. Her grab hits hard.

If you have Wynne, Lifeward is an easy way to survive the grab attacks.

So is Regeneration, and even more so is forcefield, and infinity times more so is using a Grab immune (Shale/Shapeshifted Mage) as a tank.

Yea, imo Bear is the best.  From what I can tell Bear never misses.  Plus it can't be grabbed.  Ultimate Dragon slayer. :D

Shale is the ultimate dragon slayer. Activate Stoneheart(increased health regen). Can't be grabbed, plus you can give her a Fire Crystal for 30% resistance. Just have a mage healing, and let the rest of the party keep pelting dragon with ranged attacks. Ez-mode.

Flemeth really isn't that hard if you have a mage to heal or a tank with high con, threaten, and lots of health poultices in your inventory. I've even found that its really not necessary to give everyone range equipment. Of course, I've only killed her on normal twice, so I don't know if your on a higher difficulty.

Flemeth was fairly straightforward honestly. Killed her with my character who was the tank, accompanied by Leliana, Morrigan and Wynne on hard mode on the first try. The only thing you need to do is to keep aggro on your tank. That way Wynne only has to worry about healing the tank and everyone else is free to fire at will.

It's easier because you only have 1 enemy to worry about. I particulary have trouble with fights against
multiple enemies where mages are involved. That forces me to pause a lot to
reorganize party formations and target priorities. With proper companion tactic rules/actions you can hack and slash the majority of the game, but not every part of the game.

I'm not any kind of genius at strategery (as evidenced by my use of the word strategery) but having beat the game a few times now, I find most of the encounters to be very simple... not because they are poorly designed or inherently easy, but because I already know what to do and have already done it several times. I think most people who are telling you the fight is easy are basing that off the 3rd time they did it successfully, not the first time they ran across it and sh*t their pants trying to find the reload button.

THIS.  Actually managed Flemeth my first run without everyone dying, but I think I'd given up on Normal and was onto easy.  Sure, I did it the second run easily, but I knew she was going to be a dragon.  As if you'd just say "gosh, let's all make sure we get the Drake Scale armour before we confront Flemeth.  And don't forget the warmth balms!"

But since you're asking for help, I actually did this encounter for the fourth time just now.  Alistair taunting with shield wall/expertise (no knockdown) in Dragonbone, Sten taunting with indomitable (no knockdown) in Juggernaut, Wynn well away from the fray, healing and firing off forcefields when Al or Sten were grabbed.  My DW rogue was a bit useless, actually, because she kept getting knocked down.  Did get a few good backstabs with momentum in, though, although it turns out Flemeth is immune from paralyze runes.  If I had to do it over, she'd just use her bow.

Flemeth is vulnerable to the Cone of Cold. Wait until Wynne has it and use it on Flemeth. That gives your fighters several free swipes at her as well as a breather to drink healing potions before Flemeth unfreezes. Then have Wynne hit Flemeth with the Cone again and repeat until Flemeth is dead.

The Cone of Cold is probably the best spell of the game as very few bosses can resist it even though they can resist Paralyze and Petrify.

I have only met her once and I had to wait until just before the Landsmeet on Casual before I took her on. I had Wynne and Leliana on mage/range and Oghren and my dwarf rogue on melee. Probably not the best way to do it but it worked.
