I thought he was supposed to make up for the lack of Kaidan in ME2, but he was nothing like him. He seems to have a good set of morals, but I certainly wouldn't call him "nice".

I thought he was cute, but his personality is just too icky to go through the romance with him.

Don't forget family issues. Nothing says emotionally engaging like a father/sister/son that is the central focus of matters that need resolving. grunt would've been so much more of a character were his loyalty mission about something like helping his grandma complete her Rite of Senior Citizenship but alas, he's tank bred so there's no family fodder for generating plot devices.

Yea I agree, Ash and Kaiden just had that "it" factor that I'm not getting with Miranda and Jacob, at least yet anyway, being that I could potentially grow to like either of the two a lot more in other playthroughs. Although Jacob has grown on me a little bit, but thats it.

But still, Bastila & Carth > Ash & Kaiden > Miranda & Jacob

And Jolee > Jacob

Agreed. KotOR's NPCs are the best of any game I've ever played. I love them all.

Everytime I even think about that game I almost play it.

Jacob could have been more interesting. His history as corsair and saving the citadel could have been something he told Shepard about. Instead, all we get is that he's fine with his past. And you know, priiize.

For me Jaycob Is the kind of guy that is lonely
but he thinks that he is such a badass that he can get any woman he wants
in his bed. For Ex. My character is a **** hahaha she was flirting with him without me pressing nothing. Obviously i romance with Thane cause for me Thane wanted a serious relationship and
he talk to me like he love me. Not like Jaycob that when i wanted him to say something he was like
""Oh Shepard lets talk later, we got something good Commander lets not ruin it"", What a ****** :@
he did not say nothing nice, NOTHING! does he deserve the heart of the Commander?

Personally, I like Miranda much better than Ash, but the romance with Ash is so much better, deeper, more heartfelt, imo. THe Ash/Kai combo is just that much better than JAcob/Miranda, or even Thane/Tali, if you consider those the true leading lady/malien for ME2

Personally I felt that the Thane and Tali romances were more emotional and deeper than Ash/Kaidan.

Except he had a personality.  Its just not screaming flaws like everyone else.  There is no extremes with him, and it'd be fair to compare him to a Paragon Shepard.

Like most driven people he has a view of how the world should be, but unlike most people he never abandoned this view when the realities of life and the universe set in upon him.  Instead he hardened up, and learned that sometimes you have to get yourself a bit dirty in order to get things done.  We see this in his relationship and views of the Alliance and Cerberus.  The former is an organization he would rather work for, but can't stand because the levels of beauracracy and pointless red tape that ends up kneecapping any chance for getting things done.  The latter is without the redtape but instead you have deal with a lack of ethics and morality.  Rather then lament and struggle with the implications of being in such a ruthless organization, Jacob has just accepted it and is (temporarily) content to NOT become the typical Cerberus agent.

Basically:  Life has taught him that fairy tales and videos are bull****, but that doesn't mean he has to give up.  Sometimes there is no perfect choice, and all you can do is pick the lesser of two evils.

He's straightforward and direct.  Fundamentally good.  Determined and self-sacrificing.  Life dirties him, but it doesn't bring him down or do anything to change who he is on a fundamental level.

Jalem, you have a good point. I do agree that Jacob is more complex than some people would make. He's a pretty good buddy for male Shepard, but I do think people have legitimate reasons for disliking how his romance was written.

Is Jacob the only ME2 squaddie without a support thread? That's a shame.



He annoys me as an LI, and is therwise pretty bland, but come on: where would all the FemSheps who have been dead for 2 years and desperate for a little strings-free action go otherwise?



Plus, he's proably the only LI who could get into a properly amusing slapping match with Kaiden/ Let's face it: Garrus and Thane probably couldn't be bothered, and if they were, it would be a short and brutal takedown.



From a MaleSshep POV, he's actually a pretty decent wingman. And I find him a fine use on early misions as well: I just wish they'd given him a more useful bonus power.
