You notice that Anders looks like a Cailan/elf cross? And sounds alot like Alistair? I think Fiona will come up in a roundabout way, if she doesn't actually appear.

It would be interesting to see her come to court or somesuch upon hearing news of Alistair made king and/or followed her in becoming a Grey Warden, given that was something she wanted to avoid with him and now that Maric is gone. Something else that'd be interesting to see in the expansion... what happens to Loghain's territory now that he's dead and/or gone? And thinking on it... it -is- entirely possible that Anders could be another of Maric's blood... I don't seem to recall "The Calling" actually naming the child, and there's no shortage of bastard children in the setting I'd imagine. Still, my money is on it being Alistair none the less. Has anything been said about Anders' childhood? I'd not heard anything about the character beyond the initial little video they put out as of yet.

I hope she shows up/is mentioned. She was one of my favorite characters in the book, and I want to find out if Alistair was actually her kid!

... wow, I never noticed they were that identical till you posted them side by side like that.  It looks like the exact same facial model on all three.  ... I wonder if we'll see a ghost/Fade Maric using the exact same one too. lol

There is another female elf mage with grey hair in the background of an awakening screenshot somewhere. Some people think that may be Fiona.

I actually asked David Gaider one day he joined us in the forums about Alistair. Considering the whole family story they give for him in DA:O. His reply was something to the effect, 'I am unable to confirm or deny at this time and will continue to leave it up to speculation.' So I'm thinking Alistair may have another older half brother out there.

Maybe we will see a mentioning of Fiona, but I strongly doubt we'll be meeting her. She is at Weisshaupt Fortress (assuming she is still alive, though we have no reason to suspect she wouldn't be) working with Tevinter mages to figure out how she was able to remove the darkspawn taint from herself. Granted, that was probably several years ago, but the journey from Weisshaupt to Ferelden is a long one if you look at the map and I can't think of why she would need to travel that far (she is Orlesian, if you recall so, her only connection to Ferelden would be Maric who is dead and possibly Alistair).

I seriously doubt this.

I'm not saying Alistair is or isn't Fiona's son, and I'm not saying Anders is or isn't, but I really doubt that Alistair is the only bastard child of Maric's out there.

Anders may or may not be related to Alistair, we'll just have to wait and see.

The one thing we do know for sure about Maric is that he has had several women he has cared about in his life, and generally speaking, if a pretty enough one comes along and bats her eyelashes at him just the right way, he'll fall for her. There really was a 20-year gap in between the Calling and his death just a few years before the events of DA:O, and any number of things could've happened in between then. I wouldn't put it past Maric to have had multiple dalliances - especially after the deaths of Rowan and Katriel.

True enough, there's always the chance about Morrigan being the half-sister to Alistair..

That said, I think Maric is an honourable man. And it wasn't HIS idea to have a relationship with Fiona after Rowan died, it was really at Fiona's urging (and it wasn't much of a relationship really since he was a king and she was a Grey Warden). It was the right thing to do at the time in the Deep Roads. I really think it brought him the closure he needed to move on with his life (and a bit of closure for Fiona too, after the whole Fade incident). However, we never hear about what happened betwen this time and his death so maybe we will never know. But I highly doubt just anyone with a pretty face batting her eyelashes would grab Maric's attention. He is a very devoted man.

It's great to know we will have yet ANOTHER bastard son of the Hero King' character to take focus from the PC!

I always thought the PC-Alistair relationship was an Samwise-Frodo relationship [respectively.] Alistair's the real hero, he's got all the great lines, and if the powers that be didn't make him so ineffectual, he would have zero need for the PC who likely wouldn't exist at all.

In my opinion Morrigan is Alistairs half-sister or what has Maric done with the old witch, Flemeth, in her hut (Stolen Throne-book)

If Anders is Fiona's child that might make a small degree more sense than Alistair being considered such considering although Alistair is Maric's son, Fiona asks him explicitly to let her own child live a life far away from the whole idea of castles and kingdoms.

Incidently, I want to know who that ghost is, im pretty sure its either Calian or Maric himself.

Edit: Also, in both books there is a strong fact that Maric is unquestionably a little bit of a charlitan, he made love with Katriel and with Fiona.

It doesnt specifically say that Katriel didnt give birth, nor that Maric's only love-child came from Fiona.  Alistair does note that his mother was a serving girl.

Another thing is that unlike Alistair, Anders hair colour is more fitting to be a Maric/Fiona Love child, Alitair's hair is too red.

I don't get this assessment of Alistair at all.  You don't have to take him anywhere but the Lansdmeet (he does show up at Eamon's that one time) and even then...well, you know how that can play out. In the end, no matter who does what, the PC is the Hero of Ferelden.

And Shale gets most of the great lines. Alistair is a distant second.

As for Anders, even if he is another bastard, he's also a mage so he might as well have sprung from nothingness. He might have Bastard Angst, but I imagine it won't be the same as Alistair.

It's beginning to be more surprising that there's anyone in Ferelden who isn't one of Maric's bastard children (I guess he took the whole, the king is the father of his nation a bit to literally ;-))

That's a really great pic of Cailan - he is way HOT. Alistair is very handsome/dreamy (that voice) but Cailan is too sexy. Wish he could have stuck around for a while; would have loved an opportunity to romance him and Ali.<3
