I just purchased Mass Effect 2 and loaded it onto my computer.  When I purchased it from Best Buy the "Geek Squad" insured me that my Intel 4 graphic card would run fine with it.  Of course this isn't the case!!   Is anyone aware of how I might be able to run ME2 using my Mobile Intel® 4 Series Express Chipset Family??  Any help would be much appreciated as I can't return the game after opening it!Image IPB

Oh,

  I'm running Windows 7 with a CoreDuo 2

IF their moron lied to you about the game, of course you can return it, because there is no way anything from Intel will work.

I wish it were that easy! They're return policy on games is yeah, they'll take it back, and replace it with the same thing!!

Anyway...are you really sure about it not running? I've used this computer to run Dragon Age with no trouble at all!

you should've read the requirements on the box before you bought it, so you are kinda stuck. you can try fiddling around with a program called 3danalyzer, and you MIGHT actually find a setting that will work. no guarantees though.

and of course, never trust geek squad. i'd trust a liar first... or a politician.

Integrated graphics cards are really poor for running the latest games. Ofcourse your machine being a laptop it's not something you can change now, but it's worth remembering if you ever plan to buy a new one. A dedicated card from ATI or Nvidia is a must have in any machine you plan to play intensive games on.

Also if I were you I'd return the game and not leave the store until I got a refund. You can't use the game on your current machine, while the store clerk assured you you could. Seems like good grounds for a refund or at the very least a coupon so you can buy something else.

Were you really able to play DA with this kind of setup? ME2 is lighter on resource but DA is powerhungry. Its mind boggling to know you can run DA using this chipset.

Agreed. Greed and/or incompetence are the only reasons the Geek Squad person could have told you an Intel graphics chipset would work for a 3D game.

OP, call 1-888-BestBuy, and tell them what happened. If you are going to get a refund, that's where it's coming from.

Honestly take the game back. You can point out the guy and he can vouch for you, it's not like it's a $4000 product. If they want to keep a loyal customer they will sacrifice $50 for you to keep coming back. And don't use any new game on a integrated chipset, it's not what it's meant for :(. Do like amarinth said and get a computer with a dedicated graphics chipset from nvidia or ATI. I have the GTX 260m in mine and it runs this game no problem.

try that, but honestly, you'll need a dedicated graphics card. Integrated chipsets just don't cut it (as mentioned above).

Next time don't trust those best buy guys, do the research on the internet and get a range of opinions.

Yeah my intel chip can run DA really good. Its mindboogling really. Shows what a game built for the PC from the ground up can really do. :wizard:
