I just got an upgrade computer and had to reinstalled DA:Orgins.

I have all the Downloadable content and even bought Return to Ostagar. the list began to download but once it was done, I was stuck on "Installing".

Looking at the file location I figured that there had to be a way to manually install the AddIns to bypass this bug and alow the content to link up with my account. Maybe even a patch that will fix it.

Any ideas will help.:(

See the Redeemed DLC Troubleshooting FAQ

There are links to download and install the DLC manually in section 4, but it also contains solutions for some common install problems. Depending on the problem a manual install may still give you an error.

After reading your link I have good and bad news.

Good: I found whee the problem is.

Bad: It didn't fix it. My DAUupdater starts to unpack and install the addin and than crashs, each and every time.

I already reinstalled and I get the same results. I checked to see if the service is running and it is. So I ahve all th DAzip files but no way to unpack them into their locations.

Try the beta fix for the DA Updater and see if that helps.

((Reading other posts I feel it has to do with how Windows 7 64bit installs fiels in comparison to other OS's. I am really good with computers but I know little in programing.))

Does the Documents\\BioWare\\Dragon Age\\Settings\\Addins.xml file exist and is it writable?

Try deleting it and the manifest.xml file and try installing again.

That did it. The beta fix along with the deleting of the 2 XML files fixed the problem. I watched the addins.xml file write as the first DLC began to install.

On a side note: Kepha, Thank you for your help, if you don't work for Bioware, you deserve to be. If you are already, you deserve a promotion. Nice trouble shooting and quick responses.

Note I was searching the forums and other external links. It seems that this problem is common with Win7 64bit. There might be posts else where on the forums. I would have them use the same method as you did here.

And again,

thank You.

Just wanted to say that after hours of searching, this worked for me.

I am forever in your debt. Bioware and EA really need people like you onboard to help poor saps like me.

Amazing advice! Works like a charm!

Why is the addins.xml and manifest.xml file causing problems with content installing?
