Doesn't this just demonstrate that BioWare has almost a complete inability to build a decent character with auto-level?

Hence the usefulness of the No Follower Auto-Level mod.

It feels a bit like cheating because it sort of unbalances the game, but it's so much more fun with the mod!

There's only one instance where you can get abilities that your PC couldn't have had.  During the Mage origin, you can design Jowan and the PC to work together and produce more spell combinations than would otherwise be possible.

But in Ostagar, for example, sure you can spec out that generic "Circle Mage" to be able to create a Paralysis Explosion, but that's no more powerful than having your PC do it (and a PC mage doesn't get a mage companion in Ostagar).

He sure does suck, I was able to do the last fight on Normal after only one reload. Judicious use of Blood Magic and the two available lyrium veins are all that got me through. And casting paralyze every time it came off cooldown.

normal is easy mode though B)

Conversely, playing with Jowan is like Nightmare + mode Posted Image That's kind of what I was getting at... I found it possible only by cheaping the encounter and getting lucky, and that's on NORMAL!!

Euh? I don't remember having too much difficulty when I used Jowan. Oh...wait, no I remember the last fight with the demon was kind of funny. Could usually kill the demon unless a spell missed, messing up the stun-kill chain I had going. Didn't really bother to use the blood magic skills, either. Once she got that shield up, it was pretty much me running away, trying to find an obstacle so she would have to stop hitting me and re-position herself. Oh! That, and the lyrium veins weren't working for some reason. Had her stunned, ran up to a lyrium vein, used it, still had puny health. That killed me...other than that...there was nothing spectacularly difficult about his role...
