Couldn't find any threads on this topic in the first couple of pages, I apologize if it's been brought up before.

With the new title update and addition of Return to Ostagar, does the party chest at Warden's Keep no longer upgrade equipment stored in it?

Still does for me. As does Levi Dryden and Bodahn Feddic in camp.

It's never automatic though when you aren't at super high levels. Sometimes you have to load, check the chest, load, check it again, etc. etc. until the item you want has leveled to the level you want. Once your char. is high enough level it should just level things all the way up.

You can always sell the items to the smith at wardens keep then completely exit the shop and talk to him again right away. The items should be upgraded and rune slots added depending on the quality only problem is that the price to buy them will reflect the quality as well.

Assuming you have the Xbox version, since this is the Xbox tech support forum, that statement is partially incorrect. At lower levels not all items upgrade to the level you want them. And once you've entered the keep area, the levels of items only change one time and do not change again until you either, 1: travel to another location on the world map and travel back or 2: load a save.

I frequently go to the keep, save my game, and check to see if the specific item I want upgraded has changed. Most of the time, I find that it is still at too low a level so I quit, load, and check again. For example, I might check to see the Bow I want and it is currently Tier 3. I load and check again. Now it is Tier 4. I load and check again and it's now at Tier 2. Finally after a few tries, I load the game and it's Tier 6 so I buy it or remove it from the party chest (whichever method you are using). At low-mid levels this is an issue. At higher levels (18-20+), not so much.

You cannot, however, check the merchant then quit the shop and immediately check again to see if items have changed. They will not do so until you leave and come back or load a save, as mentioned above.

I find that the items sometimes downgrade based upon Party Member structure.

Seems to be random based on party level, I just did all the RTO items with my lv12 character and it took about 5 min to get the weapons and new armor set to dragonbone.

What I did was talk to the smith at the keep and sold him Duncan's 2 weapons, Cailin's sword and shield and his armor set then exited his shop. Then I talked to him again went to the junk tab which showed the items I just sold him and 3 were dragonbone, grabbed those then repeated, exiting his shop and going back in till they were all fully upgraded. This does take a lot longer at lv 12 than say lv18-20, and I'm not sure about lower levels, but with some patience and enough gold it can work.

Just tried it a few times out of curiosity, but only certain items can be leveled up. some of the named items dont seem to be changing at all. Is this true or does it take more time?

Some items simply can't be chaged, I know there's a few swords that will stay silverite or only upgrade that high. The dagger found in the village where you get shale will never change it is always red steel, there's quite a few that won't change. One cool thing to do though is to sell the smith the Ageless greatsword and when you buy it back it will still be silverite but it will have 2 rune slots.

This is supposed to only work for items obtained through the dlc.
