I name my dog Marvel, after my real-life Boxer.
What did you name your dog?

On my brutish characters I go for something blunt and simple, like Meat or Thrash.
I name all the others Bran, Garth or some other kind of animal. He's Giraffe on my current!

CuDonnMor (Gaelic for big brown dog: most of the names in the game seem to be Gaelic/Celtic); also Hundel/Hundal/Hundl (Germanic for "Little Hound/Dog), and most recently "PowerPuppy."

I like using Gaelic/Celtic for pretty much all of my characters, though the first dog was simply "Killer". I've also used "Cathal" (Gaelic meaning 'Powerful in Battle') and most recently simply, "Finn". I think I like him the best.

I named my first dog Duncan. It was funny having two adjacent codex entries called "Duncan." My Dalish Elf named hers Tamlen. Still, nothing beats Barkspawn: www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2009/11/6/

My latest dog is Snuffles. There's something indescribably hilarious about watching a beastie named Snuffles overwhelming a Darkspawn Emissary.

Dog.
See? Told ya. But hey, my childhood was full of naming stuffed animals things like "Bear" or "Beary" or "Kitty" etc. So naming a dog Dog is nothing new for me.
In my most recent run, I named the dog Cat.

Hey, i have a couple of friends in Holland who have two cats called "Rose" and "Ghoul" (and i've spelt them wrong of course) but both names mean "cat" in one language or another (don't know which languages, which is why I of course, know that I've spelt them wrong Lol)
I named my Dog after my ... um ... actual dog

Caketown is my favorite, although I also used (or considered) Cookie, Cake, Cheesecake, Jellybelly, Frosty, Tootsie, and Mallow.
Then there was Shub-Niggurath, but then I wondered if the darkspawn could make such a name disturbingly appropriate for a dog, so I chose something else.

On all my runs so far, the dog has gotten the fear inspiring, awe inducing name of... Barkus.
Maybe on the next, I shall call him Tim.

Nice thread, since I'm bad with names and usually have to resort to using a name generator or default names. Since I couldn't leave my mabari buddy with dog for a name, I went with Wrex and Repede, from other favorite games of mine.

#1 Dand: Pet form of Scottish Aindrea; meaning "man; warrior".
#2 Mabon: Welsh name meaning "divine son".
I always use 20000-names.com when picking names; and always Irish, Celtic, Scottish, Welsh (first time) or Russian. Origin depends on my mood and the character in question.
No offense.
