Is it going to customizable? I don't want to be going everywhere with the helmet on, plus I'd like to change colors.
Helmet is OK with me....wouldn't make sense to head into combat without it on and the colors are fine with me. What I am more concerned about is whether the armor upgrades are active while wearing and whether they are active while wearing the other special armors they had available at launch.

Hey BioWare, read my thread requesting helmet removal from the DLC armor, and do something about it.
Seriously, for many, many of us its the line drawn between using and not using them, made worse by the optional helmets for standard N7 armor.
Fix it please!
I've found this is the issue with all of my friends playing Mass Effect 2 as well - I tell them about the other armors, and they're like "Um, yeah, but does that mean I have to keep the helmet on and feel all awkward with it for an entire main mission", and I can only agree.
Don't expect too many people to actually pay for more armor sets if this is your policy Bioware, that's all I'm sayin.

On the other hand, the shotgun addition is great and I really hope Bioware adds more weapons of each type.

I also hope that armor has removable helmet, otherwise it is just a waste of space in armory.

*Most* protection is from biotic barriers and tech armor, and if you don't have that, then from mass effect shields. In most cases there isn't a *need* for a helmet, but it does bring the physical protection after all other defenses are taken down.

yes i have tested it. the armor upgrades one researches apply to all armors. i have tested this intensivly with the collector armor
Thanks for the reply. If you are right then the special armors have merit in my book.

Argh, you're right. Used to clicking the quote at the bottom, not top.

The extra shotgun is a very welcome addition, especially if (unlike all the other shotguns) it actually has decent range on it.

But, will we be able to customize this armour? (Unlike the Terminus armour, for example... NEED REMOVAL OF HELMET! :/)

If you and others who feel the same way can find the time, it would be great if you could express support for this issue here.

This makes me wish I could equip party members with armor, this is better suited for Jacob and Miranda. unfortunately Bioware decided to leave out party customization so now Sheperd has 4 suits of armor that will never be worn.
On the other hand, the shotgun addition is great and I really hope Bioware adds more weapons of each type.
It's so jarring to see Shepard in heavy gear and Jack in some vest (at BEST), Jacob in spandex, Miranda in high heels... and so on. (I imagine Thane wearing some sort of protection under that outfit) I avoid these characters almost all the time as a result.
I keep em around because I don't mind the characters and in hopes that they'll get some sense and put on some armor in ME3, but I avoid them like the plague now in ME2.

The immersion breaks when Shepard takes a drink through his helmet, someone kisses him through the helmet, or someone recognizes his face through the helmet. It's silly and takes you out of the game for the moment. And overall, it's nice to see the animation on Shepard's face. Tali's already got the animationless thing taken.MeteorX7 wrote...
Why it matters you can't take the helmet off is beyond me. Makes way more sense to have a helmet on at all times, and in reality, Shepard is about the least interesting character in this game.
The extra shotgun is a very welcome addition, especially if (unlike all the other shotguns) it actually has decent range on it.

It doesn't make sense when Shepard is scratching his hea...helmet, or drinking through...nothing. Or exploring a calm civilian area with... a Darth Vader voice.
