I think it was more then obvious, that there will be DA2, I mean, there are more then 3milions copies of DA sold, can´t say DA is not a succes, so why not to make a sequel.

That seems a...little early.

Dragon Age 2 can't come soon enough for me ! I already finished Origins 3 times (2 time on nightmare) i'm waiting for the expansion so I hope they will show something of DA2 by E3 so i have something to thrive on for the rest of the year

If anything its either an expansion pack or a DS/PSP version (doubtful). At any rate if it is indeed a full fledged sequel, that whole 2 years worth of DLC line goes right out the window.

So?  A business plan is not a unbreakable promise.  Bioware's statements about DLC can be changed at any time based on economics or unforseen circumstances, or simply because they change their minds.

How so? Just because they release a sequel doesn't mean they have to stop making DLC for the original.

THIS!
I mean doh!
They can release DA: 2 and still make DLC's and Exp for DA:O...
Just like they (not Bioware no doh!) actuallly DO still work with L4D *new maps etc from Valve not modders still coming out* even with L4D2 out...
So using L4D as an example of dropping the support is flawed in any way... B)

Forums and the nerdrage with no reason are well known to go hand in hand aren't they?

When DA2 comes out i don’t think many people will be very interested in new DA:O dlc’s.

I hope DA2, or whatever it is, comes out on the same engine and they just make some improvements. I couldn't care a whit about a new game engine. The one they are using looks sweet. The only ting I'd like to see is characters moving around a bit more so they look less wooden. Other than that, I say bring on as much extra content as you can and I will totally buy it all and love it! HOOOOOOOO

My only other complaint is I never go out any more. So hold off a bit Bioware so I can work on my tan!

I'd be more pissed if they strung out DLC and didnt produce a sequel. Seriously all these forums are filled with is whining.

People moaning that DLC is a rip-off and the main game was way better value for money and people moaning that a new main game will mean there won't be two years of DLC. If you hate the DLC you should be glad a sequel is coming soon.

I like the DLC but its not as good as the original game. They wont make another Awakening sized DLC. Bioware have proven record on main games and shaky DLC record.

DLC for ME was not very good but i like the DA:O DLC, they are more like side quests but they extend the game.

The DA:O team actually has a group of people specifically dedicated to creating DLC. I don't think this would be much of an issue fortunately :)

Damn, I really love Dragon Age but I don't know if Awakening will keep me interested for another year.

I will need some more good DLC's inbetween as well.

Way too early to get excited. First DA:O was delayed, then the somewhat disappointing Return to Ostagar was a farcical series of delays. That said, waiting a couple of years or three for a quality title is just fine with me. Let's hope the greed machine of EA (Sims Expansions Unlimited\\ Madden Annually) can be dissuaded by Bioware from ruining a potentially awesome franchise.

Why does anyone want a version 2? We still have a lot of room for expansions.

approve +10 with Tinysword best to wait a couple of years with some good DLC

and get a great sequel instead of a rushed follow up.

but on the otherhand.....can't wait to see how things play out

hope we get something of a hint on that in Awakening

just hope most of your companions from DA:O will be returning in the sequel as companion

I just found this on my favorite game  website http://www.gamestar....agon_age_2.html.
It seems to confirm a release for February 2011.

For some reason I get the feeling this isn't a direct sequel to Dragon Age: Origins.

I wouldn't mind a DA every year- not sure why anyone would complain about this. Incremental change in graphics and game play with new stories. Win!

For as long as BioWare worked on production of DAO, I highly doubt that they were not at least somewhat written into the second if not fully written into the storyline of the second and possibly third installments of the game. Also, truthfully, if you truly like the original game then you will remain interested in DLC that continues to come out for it regardless of the sequel. In fact you will be excited to further your adventures in the world of Ferelden and it's surrounding lands. I sincerely look forward to Dragon Age 2 whether it comes out in February 2011 or February 2013. I will enjoy my DLC also. Thanks, BioWare!

LEFT 4 DEAD?
Halo 2?
Guitar hero?
Gears of War?
Grand Turismo?
Star wars forced unleashed?
and when was the last mass effect DLC after pinnacle station Image IPB

and many many more games like this. All these companies made promises of developping DLC and they made 1-2 packs before qutting. They were scrapped because these companies wanted more money and did so by developping sequels

Why should Bioware be any different. Why should Bioware care about wasting resources to provide DLC content for fans that have already bought the game. Wheres the profit in that Image IPB

Again, 2/2011 could be anything, I don't think the two wings of the dragon "proves" it's DA 2, and I'll believe it when I see an official company announcement. They never release sequels without at least six months to hype them, minimum.

Could be a game spinoff (DA-based RTS game? MMO?), could be an other-than-game spinoff (movie, comic book), could be a "massive" expansion (as compared to the relatively small A expansion.)

Whatever's coming out in 2011, I suspect the majority of the rest of 2010 will be more DlC. Possibly both for O, and for A. For those complaining about the length of A, some DlC could make it longer. Of course, given the price, maybe some of it, like Stone Prisoner, should be free.

It's not uncommon for developers to start working on a sequel before the original is even released. It is quite possible that concept artists and story writers were hard at work on the sequel while testers were busy working out bugs for Origins in alpha/beta. Not to mention EA can provide a huge amount of resources to Bioware; Bioware is much more capable to release games quicker than ever before.

And more than likely, the release date will be pushed back by at least two quarters.

Since there is no Disc for DLC, almost all the money is pure profit (minus band with and server cost) Bioware supported and made content for NWN1 over 3 years.... What not to say if they planing to do the same for DAO?
