I would recommended playing in easy mode until you have leveled up enough to unlock more abilities. Then switching back to normal to see if you are more successful.

I respect you (and your fellow BioWare breathen) immensely, so don't take this the wrong way, but I don't think turning on God mode is a acceptable solution.

I have been flipping back and forth between Hard and Normal and haven't seen much of a differerence, but when flipping to Easy mode, BOOM!  You and your party become unstoppable.  And now with the patch, it is supposedly (according to the patch notes) even easier.  (I can't conconceive how it could be any easier, but patch notes don't lie, right? :P)

Well it's probably a sign that you are simply not micro managing your people. I've watched my brother play this game for a few hours on normal, and there are some battles that have stopped him and made him rethink about how to use the terrain. He was never frustrated or stuck though.

Most fights you are in, you are not simply contained to the area in which battle begins, you can move your members around objects and terrain to stop ranged attacks. If you are playing on normal, try thinking like you would play a RTS.

Tactical retreats work wonders. If you are finding a particular fight tough, try posting in the spoiler section for some tips.

This game is 2 EZ. I've only died 20 times so far and I'm just finishing The Prologue!!! I'm going back to Donkey Kong at least I made to Level 2 after the 30th time.

There are many flaws here, and it's just not what I would expect from the Baldur's Gate people. I have decided that this game does not do it for me. I was really looking forward to it, but the only emotion the game seems to be eliciting is anger... and a fair bit of disappointment. If I don't see a point in continuing, then that's not my fault is it? I love RPGs, but this is not what I would expect from Bioware. Games are supposed to improve with time, become more complex and intricate. I'm playing on the most difficult setting, just looking for some kind of challenge, and all it does is make me have to continually restart the battles hoping for a better roll of the dice. There's more to an RPG than restarting battles. I mean, the dialogue often leads you to the same spot no matter what you say. This is an action game, and it doesn't draw me in like a quality RPG. I was hoping for a new RPG addiction, but sadly I did not find it in Dragon Age: Origins. The only reason I'd finish at this point is just for the sake of finishing. I appreciate the work that must have gone into the theatrics and design, but I'm sure there were developers who felt it wasn't finished. I'm sure a few knew they were releasing less than a whole game. I'm done for now anyway, and I the only reason I'd pick up again is out of bordom. That's two failed picks in a row for me now (The Witcher). I think I might go back to NWN2.

Hmm, you play on 'nightmare' and then come out with that garbage?

You just smell of troll, dude.

I have to zero in on this statement because there are more dialogues in NWN2 that are like that than I care to remember.  If anything, I see DA:O as being slightly improved in that department.

You started on nightmare and you're complaining about it eliciting anger?  You really should just play on normal and have fun rather than asking for a "challenge" and ending up posting complaints on the forum.

Give me an example where this isn't true.  I'd argue that this rpg is by far one of the best at having your dialog choices result in different outcomes.

So, you wanted a challenge, and from what I understand, it is too hard for you. Perhaps instead of hoping for luck, try using some tactics, pausing and issuing individual commands to each unit at a time.

If not, adios...

Ignore the ****s, they've been wow'ified. It seems the trolls from wow.com just migrated over here; proof "can I have your stuff" responses.

By all means come and share your thoughts with Bioware, they need to know how people feel both good and bad.

I am a NWN 1 fan too, and I was hoping for a leap from that game, the only thing DA:O has me wishing for is my money back.

I guess they were too busy worrying about how they were going to include a tool for the DLC to charge people.

This is the beginning of the end for me, EA has and will continue to affect Bioware, making money is more important then making a good game. What the greedy coporate execs at EA don't understand is; good games will make you money.

Not long ago Riccitello told some shareholders that they're going to lean heavily towards micro-transactions for all of their games, DA:O is a vehicle to make money, nothing more.

It seems to me that if the game is so difficult that you end up restarting every battle, yet you knowingly have it set on the hardest difficulty, the solution to your woes would be to turn the difficulty down.

The game is certainly not designed so you must keep restarting combat, ie "rolling the dice" for every encounter.

It'd be a problem if he were playing in Easy... Anyways, be careful. Some people don't like to be told in which difficulty to play. Image IPB

I haven't played so many RPGs as most of you and  altough Neverwinter Nights 2 is my favourite, Dragon Age feels like can make me change my mind. Only time (and plathrough) will tell. So far so good.

You don't need to be condescending.  Fact of the matter is that I have only had to reload (i.e., my whole party died) just once so far, and that was when fighting that first boss battle at the beginning.

My point was that every battle shouldn't have to be such a hardship and difficult challenge.  It quickly makes the game monotonous.

Anyway, that's just my opinion, and my opinion is not really that important (in this setting), so I'll just shut up now.

But before I part, to the BioWare guys above, regardless of my above gripe, I think you guys rock!!! As a whole, this game is a masterpiece, and you should be very proud of yourselves.  There's no emoticon for it, but *thumbs up*!

An obvious ploy for attention by an arrogant moron thinking that complete strangers care whether or not he is going to play a game he bought. Christ! get over yourself!

I imagine if he is talking about going back to NWN it is for the the custom mods and such rather than the official material. I still have the game loaded on my machine and still go back to it periodically. As to NWN2, it is what I am playing now as I wait for my DA:O to arrive since GS botched my preorder. It is a solid game as well. Obviously, I can't actually comment on DA:O yet though.

Well, there is one dialog with Morrigan where either answer nets you -10 approval. But other than that, I can't remember a single one. I am one of those that reasonably liked NWN. It had some good points. Not many excellent points, but some good ones. And I would be remiss if I did not say I have had complaints about a few things in DA:O.

But Jesus H. Chrimmeny dude. Aren't you being a bit over meladramatic.

Stupidest most contradictory thing ive ever read, instead of just leaving could you perhaps shoot yourself so I never have to meet any of your offspring? Putting the setting on "hard" was enough to make me cringe and nearly quit, plutting it back to normal restored all balance in the universe.

One aspect I wonder about when people decide to create these kinds of post are if they truly understand what such topic will ensue in a forum populated predominately with those in favour of the game. Are certain people that shortsighted not to see the obviously positivity defence from forum goers and negative responses that will follow in some cases?

So you're whining because you keep getting killed because you're playing on a difficulty level that surpasses your tactical skill? And you think NWN2 is better?

Okay. Have fun with that.

No way am I going tranquil! I like a challenge and Nightmare mode will be beat no matter how long it takes me! ... Though I'll probably burst like a virulent walking bomb on the day that happens. Hehehe

Plus the game has only been out for 3 days. Surely you haven't tried every trick out there to turn the tide of battle have you?

Ah well, some folks just want to be heard, nothing wrong with that. Personally I enjoy this game, pre ordered it excitedly like many other folks and it's worth the expectations as far as I am concerned. These games are starting to get to what I imaged that they could become way back in the Intellivision days where you character was a dot and dark dungeons were screens where you couldn't see your dot as you tried to find the special key of something. It's all good to me, so guy who quits - good luck in enjoying your next game.

You have it on the highest difficult setting and you are getting mad because the battles are too hard.

My head hurts.

And it's not an action RPG.
