Man, I feel absolutely horrible. I just finished Virmire on a playthrough and I normally sacrifice Kaiden, but this time I sacrificed Ashley, and now I'm so gutted.

It was so sad... :crying:

:( I don't think I could do that hehe. Kaiden always takes one for the team on Virmire.

Both their deaths were kinda wrenching to me. Especially if you abandon the one at the bomb site and get to see them watching the Normandy fly off without them.

The very first time I played through ME though, I was romancing Ashley, so when the choice came up, I chose to go back to Ashley without a second thought. Kaidan's death really didn't hit home for me until I was walking around the Normandy and I came to where he was normally standing near the sleep pods. I was still half-expecting to see him there, and when he wasn't... Well, let's just say it was a real "Oh my God, he's really dead..." jolt of a moment. Image IPB

Shouldn't the title be: rest is pieces? - or Ash-es :(

Yeah I sent Ashley with the bomb because I really wanted to see the AA-tower again. And you saw her sit there, alone... and see us fly away... man... that stabbed me in the heart.

No matter who dies, watching the ship fly away is gut wrenching.

This. I remember on my first playthrough I had this sneaking suspicion that one of them would die on Virmire. When you're presented with the "I need one of your team to help my team" dialogues in an RPG, it usually means death.

I sent Ashely with th Salarians as I wanted to keep Kaidan alive. I didn't realize the choice was actually at the end 'till I got there. I sat there just starring at my monitor and that dialogue wheel. I didn't think the choice would be as hard as it was.

You see, that is what makes a damn fine game. When you become so emotionally attached to the characters that watching them die makes you tear up.

I cried on my first playthrough and echoed Shepard's words. "I'm so sorry, Ash."

One of the things I love about Bioware. You get so involved in the story that such a sacrifice hits home a heck of a lot more. I chose to save Ashley, as she was the love interest however I didn't take into account any of the main things about Kaidan. Such as the experiments and the like that were conducted on him. Don't regret saving Ashley, not at all, but it was a tough moment.
