I really hope it's not a MMO set in the ME universe. I never play them. I don't intend to play The Old Republic, but I would have played KOTOR 3. I really want to see more Reven lore. I'd pay for that. But I'm not paying for MMO.

So, here's hoping it's an expansion or something.

A connecting expansion would be great, especially if the consequences carry over. I can see how development time is much shorter since they..

- Have fully designed engine, no need for tweaks.

- Had ME 2 finished several months before it was released.

- A very talented team

That being said, I'd want them to take their time to make the story as good as it can possibly become whether that requires and expansion in between, then so be it.

BioWare should to take a long walk in park, breath some fresh air, and work on REAL sequel to ME1.
No more rushed out spin off.

Ugh. Mass Effect 2 was a real sequel, like it or not. Theres no going back.

Anyway, my best guess would be an expansion or big dlc.

ME2 was an amazing game, best I've played. I don't understand you.

I'm a bit perplexed by this. I think it's too early for ME3, and going by Dragon Age's timeframe, too long for an expansion. I doubt it's a handheld game (Galaxy was hardly "far reaching"). Even if they were considering an MMO, I can't see that being released until after the main trilogy. An expansion seems the most likely I guess, but only time will tell.

ME2, as a game is pretty good, as a sequel is pretty forgetable

Now that we've said it what would an expansion intail? Seems like they would save the whole reaper war until ME3 so what would they put out as an expansion?

The dragon age expansion would take a far shorter time than an ME2 one because at its core Dragon age is a much simpler game. So much so that the level editor has been released to the public. 1 year for a proper 15 to 20 hour Mass effect 2 expansion sounds right. Maybe it might be even bigger than that.

I wouldnt. No way in hell. Mass Effect is a solo experience and it should stay that way. Dragon age on the other hand, i would mind it being more multiplayer orientated like NWN.

Something to consider. First of all, most of the "predictions" in ME2 seems like there will be a one year in-game timeline progression between ME2 and ME3. That's mostly my guess because in ME1... the few things that did make similar references were 2 years out, and what do you know... ME2 is set two years after ME1.

Second part to this... coincidentally enough, ME2 just happen to come out a little over 2 years after ME1. Same amount of time progressed in the storyline. Leads me to believe that ME3 may have a good shot at that mysterious 2011 window. Or, maybe it's alluding to some type of expansion pack/DLC that is supposed to bridge ME2 and ME3 like Bioware was saying their intent was for the ME1 DLC.

Just guesses obviously, but some things I thought I would throw out there.

"ME2" is better than "ME1", in pretty much every category.

I want something to bridge between ME2 and ME3, and I want them to take twenty years making ME 3.

Well, maybe not. But I want them to take their bloody sweet time, because the Mass Effect concept has so much potential that hasn't even been touched yet.

It's probably a port for PS3 with some kind of content heavy version.

The combat in ME1 was so painful though. The combat in ME2 was so much better. It was intense and tied to the brillaint RPG story, made it one of the best games ever made and arguably my favorite "pure" game (excluding fighters and MMOs) of all time.

If you think it's similar to "GoW" because they made the shooting elements better....you obviously never played "GoW". That's like saying it's similar to "Shenmue" because the Interrupt system is kinda similar to the QTEs.

It's not that it's not "Mass Effect", it's not what you want "Mass Effect" to be. Which, no offense, doesn't matter much since you didn't code the game. If you make a "Mass Effect" mod I'll happily play your version of the sequel though.

"ME" is not even that good a game. I don't get the angst over the new changes. It was buggy, ran like sh*t, half the areas looked exactly the same, the Mako handled poorly, the skill points allocation was cumbersome, the inventory system sucked, and 90% of the gear was useless....the list goes on. I still love it despite these flaws but it's hardly a standard to hold a sequel to.

The gameplay its just like GeoW,  corridor after corridor with mid height boulders, you move from point A to B, GUESS WHAT, Mission acomplished?? whoohooo

As for the ME1 flaws you posted, half of the crap you posted is fixed on the PC version....

As for the other part, its completely opinion based as it is with all things, some like it, som don't
Yes the inventory system wasnt expectacular,  what you do bout it, YOU FIX IT, you make it work.
Instead of that what we got, the Dumb's man version of a "inventory", If you can call it an inventory

I posted earlier that it was the movie of mass effect, and there was a link to the imdb thereafter. Those posts are now gone from this thread, read from that what you will.

It's odd you'd praise the first game, which was literally corridor after corridor of areas that looked exactly the same, but criticize the sequel for the same thing when the scenery looks different in almost every area.

The only similarity to "GoW" is that now "ME" is a competant shooter. This isn't a bad thing, the combat in the first game was pretty bad.

Finally yes those flaws were fixed on the PC version, which Bioware didn't touch. Demiurge ported it. So, in a straight up comparison between the two, "ME2" is infinitely better than "ME1", which barely even ran, and definitely isn't good enough to set the standard for the rest of the series.

Buying the copyrights to a movie and actually going forward and making it might seem the same on the surface, but are far far apart from each other.
