Wait, so, does humanity have the only nukes?

Just sayin if a kinetic barrier can't stand up to more then a few bullets, or the Cain (which is not a nuke) then I'm pretty sure a volley of 200 Megaton "star-in-a-cans" would do some work against a Reaper.
If a Geth can be overloaded by what is essentially a glowing orange calculator watch (which everyone can afford, apparently), then a few EMPs in orbit should shut down entire platoons.

The Reapers already have counters for all the obvious solutions.

Nukes are pointless in the ME universe. It would be impossible to hit anything with them. The GARDIAN laser defense grids every ship has would shoot it down before it could explode, probably a hundred miles from it's target.

Actually as I remember it the Codex mentions that the Krogan nuclear winter occurred several thousand years BEFORE the Salarians found them, and was the reason why they regressed so heavily into such a technologically unadvanced species.Statulos wrote...
It is induced that Tuchanka looks like Fallout universe because the Salarians passed the knowledge about the atom to the Krogan. Mordin basicaly tells you about that and why, because of that, culture is an important development.

Yeah nukes are useless by the time ME takes place since they can get bigger explosions from Mass Effect rounds fired from their dreadnoughts.
Not Necessarily, I think it is only a 37 kiloton impact. Even the Hydrogen Bombs today are 50 Megatons.
I just think it is much faster and more accurate then trying to fire a slow Nuke Missile, especially when you have GARDIAN lasers like the above posters said.

Doesn't the new biotic charge basically use some basic version of the gate technology to teleport the user from point a to point b, directly throught solid objects? Honestly not sure how it works.
If so, couldn't larger versions of that same tech sort to teleport a nuke from point a, to inside a ship or near it?
Now admittedly, maybe the energy required to do that, might result or more destruction by just accelerating much small things.

If you can hide something the size of the Normandy, you can hide a 15 foot missle.
Heck, a shipe like the Normandy could drop a "dumb nuke" and leave.
Plus, the Dreadnaughts of ME2 have a slug that only have the kinetic energy of 38.24 kilotons of TNT. We have nukes rated at 50Kt. Imagine what humanity could have done in the years.

Wrong, Wrong and Wrong. Tuchanka looks like that, because the krogan decided to play with nuclear bombs and create a small nuclear winter. The Salarians found the Krogan after that, while the galaxy was fighting the Rachni, so they taught the Krogan how to build Ships and Weapons and so on.
The Salarians are responsible for the Krogan Rebellions, in which the Krogan started a war against pretty much everyone, which ended with the genophage. That is the fault Mordin is referring to.
oh, you are right about the culture thing

As is quoted multiple times in ME, a Dreadnought's main gun generates more force than the 2 bombs dropped in WWII, and it can shoot them out every few moments so why spend all the time making a bunch of A-bombs when you can shoot out a chunk of metal that costs like 10 bucks and does the same damage?
Yeah, except I would imagine at the time of ME the nukes far surpass even 1000 megatons if they tried to make one. Like I said, todays H-Bombs are 50 megatons. It is only the cheapness, easiness, and effectiveness of it against non-reaper enemies that keeps them using the plain metal chunks. Now that there are Reapers though, it would be a good idea to research more powerful weaponry.
Those Thanix Cannons are an example of how outdated the Ship Based Mass Effect cannons are. Its just like today, with machine guns. There is no reason to upgrade since they are still effective against our enemies. If however, Russia developed a bullet resistent suit that made guns useless, we would need to develop better tech.
Same thing with the advent of the Reapers.

Nope. Krogans invented nukes and blew tuchanka to crap before salarians got there.

That have been researching more powerful weaponry in the form of the guns you can research for the Normandy. Those puppies dusted a highly advanced Cruiser, so who knows what Dreadnought sized cannons of that type would do. Not to mention we have only seen one Dreadnought in the game and it was crewed by crappy Asari, where as a fleet of twenty something Cruisers killed a Reaper, what would happen in the "Final Battle" against the Reapers where you have dozens of Dreadnoughts? It would be a true Battle of the Titans.VanguardtoDestruction wrote...
