I read somewhere that Bioware is supposed to reveal something at E3. Could be an expansion for DA or ME. Or it could be new IP.

The 2011 thing is probably going to me ME1 and ME2 for the PS3.

Uh, I know most people don't understand the concept of FISCAL YEARS, but Electronic Arts started it's 2010 fiscal year back in March of 2009. Their 2011 fiscal year starts this coming March. That means what the CEO is describing is coming this Spring or Summer, not in 2011 as you might expect.

So, it's definitely a big DLC like the schedule for Dragon Age.

Ohh thanks for the clarification! :) I never really dealt with fiscal years. Then, it will probably be a good DLC.

Oh! That's different then. I'm betting its going to be a paid full expansion with fast release date like DA: Awakening then. Seems likely they'll be following a similar model.

I thought someone from BioWare said they were planning for a January 2011 release for Mass Effect 3. It was an interview, they said something about not having to update the graphics or anything. I'm off to find it, I'll be back.

Well, during a fiscal call, you can also speak of december, january, winter, summer ... And they can still mean the same thing as usual.

And another clue, Dead Space 2 was first mentionned and it's announced for Q1 2011. So the Mas Effect thing should also be around that time.

And they are discussing their fourth quarter fiscal plans of 2011.

It is likely a spin-off. Like a MEMMO or some crap of that nature.

Yep, I was wrong. Listened to the earnings call and he was definitely talking about January-March 2011.

They better not be holding back a DA:Awakening style expansion pack until next year. DA:O came out November 2009, expansion is coming March 2010. That's less than 6 months.

So, either something really awesome is coming out early next year that's completely seperate from Mass Effect 2, or we're going to be waiting awhile for new content.

I think it'll be a spinoff. (Maybe another iPhone game? iPhone is the fastest-growing game platform.)

More random ME merchandise?

I'd buy it. Probably.

Maybe a full-fledged Mass Effect on 360 outside of the trilogy. Unlikely, but possible. I would also buy that.

They clearly said Winter 2011, so probably late 2010.

And if it's a ME MMORPG, furniture will be defenestrated.

Nice use of defenestrated.

I just can't wait. Please, somebody hold me down.

Winter of 2011 is far away. I'm more concerned with the DLC coming out in the next several months, because my free time will disappear in the fall.

yeah. I still have my Gameinformer with Dead Space 2, and i remember that being slated for Q4 2010.

It's gotta mean that the Mass Effect 2 special was Q4 2010...

must be a typo.

starting in March is EA's 2011 fiscal year. same for Ubisoft (i believe the reason why Splinter Cell : Conviction got pushed to April was to bolster Ubisoft's fiscal report).

Uh...

Okay, for those of us who DON'T play DA:O, how much of an expansion was/is this "Awakening" dealio? Because I Googled it and it is apparently another 40 bucks.

That's, like, 2/3 of the game price again...

really hoping for an expansion for ME2.

the suicide mission is just too damn short.

if it's a spin off, i will be disappointed if it is done by anyone other than bioware. it would be like someone other than valve doing half-life or a FPS halo game without bungie at the helm.

we won't know until it comes out in March.

i have my eye on it, but 40 bucks is a lot.. that is nearly the cost of a new game.

Oh, something no one likely mentioned is that they may announce a mass effect movie. IMDB has a listing for a mass effect movie with a release year of 2012. So 1 year pre-movie wouldn't surprise me as that is about the right time to announce/release trailers for a movie. Especially to build hype for ME3.

ME as a movie is... no.

The only thing you could safely do would be a prologue, maybe the First Contact War. The fact that anything in the game timeframe would have to mention makes the film impossible to make, because you would HAVE to mention Shepard's decisions/effects.

Maybe end said prequel movie with a-- never mind, you can't even do a sort of 'birth of Shepard' scene because he/she can be male or female, as well as colony-born, earthborn, or spacer... so basically, yeah, complete prequel.

Please let it NOT be an MMO. Anything but an MMO.

Here's hoping it's a Privateer/Elite like space-sim.
