Hi,

I'm new to this toolset thing and I wanted to create a new type of armor, complete with new looks. Is there a tutorial somewhere that gives a step by step description of how to go about such a venture? I 'm as far as duplicating default objects in the toolset and changing it's properties, but I can't find a way to alter the appearance.

Help much appreciated! Oh and BioWare, add a search function!

I'm not so sure about that. I read other topics from people changing appearance of items.

Well heres a link I think that applies your custom item from the toolset into the game, tells ya how to set up a module. But altering appearances, that tricky. hmmm

seting up a module

social.bioware.com/5339/blog/576/

And a site about Modding

dragonagemodding.wordpress.com/

Try Asking people from Dragon Age Nexus, and ask them how they did there custom armor and items, they're usually nice, and would be help you farther, I haven't met a rude person there honestly, when it came towards help on a toolset. Plus I think you may need another programs if you really want change the item drasticly, I recall this guy used photo shop for his Grey Warden Runic Armor. To imprint the double head griffion insigna.

I wish I could be more direct in help. Sorry... though I hope you find your answer. I think these are just one of things that hard to explain in one whole comment. Anyway good luck=]

So far creating completely new looking armour is a tough proposition. The tools to do so are not 100% functional. Its possible to modify some of the existing armour models and then use those but a completely different model is a bit tougher to execute.

First of all you must have a 3d modeling software such as blender or 3ds MAX/G-MAX. Then if you have 3ds MAX or G-MAX you can take a look to this topic "Custom Armor Process".

If you have blender you can take a look at this project "Blender Import-Export Script".

Good luck.
