BTW, I'd like to see a correlation chart, as in "people who like X tend to dislike Y" or "people who like X also like Z". That can't be done well with the "listed ranking" method, and I don't want to enter the data from this thread as well.

Ashley - She has a few amusing moments in ME1, but deeply religious people scare me. I'm weird like that.

Kaiden - I could never see him as anything but Carth 2.0. Sorry.

Wrex - Favourite character from ME1. Loses a point because I didn't think he seemed as gruff when you meet him in 2.  And the lack of 'Shepard.' 'Wrex."

Garrus - BFF. Second favourite of ME1. Somehow gets cooler in 2, but loses a point due to lack of dialogue. ENOUGH WITH THE SODDING CALLIBRATIONS, MAN!

Tali - Third favourite in ME1. I confess, my like of her is mostly due to my love of the Quarians. They're basically an entire race of Darth Vader lookalikes with an interesting, even if not original, history. I would kill for one of those suits in real life. Becomes much, much more interesting and moves away from 'Walking Quarian codex' in ME2, but loses a point because...well, even if she develops in ME2, there's not really anything about her that makes her 'Tali'. I don't really recall anything about her personal likes or dislikes not related to the Quarian people, other than her apparent like of club music that she mentions in ME1. Would like to see her get more of an individual personality if appearing in future games. Was hard not to like her after her trial though, which was amazing.

Liara - I'm sorry, but she bored me to sleep in ME1. Would have been my least favourite character if not for Carth...er, Kaidan, being voiced by Carth and losing points for that. Perhaps it's simply because I haven't read the comics, but I found her radical personality shift from ME1 to ME2 hard to accept. Especially given the Asari are meant to take awhile to age and mature. Didn't work for me at all, even if she became a little more interesting.

Miranda - I liked her more than I thought I would. Still don't trust her. Kept expecting a knife in my back all game. Not as arrogant as I thought she would be. I went in with very low expectations, came out mildly pleased.

Jacob - A little bland. Not much to say about him. Not terrible, but overshadowed by the other personalities. Gets a slight bonus for ME: Galaxy.

Mordin - Yes! Brilliant. My favourite character in a Bioware game since HK-47 (Well....MAYBE Shale) Hilarious, unique, and not just comic relief. His loyalty quest was my second favourite and made him an interesting character. One of the few characters I thought had enough dialogue to get to know in ME2.

Grunt - Warmed to him after his loyalty quest. Wanted to like him, didn't seem like we go to hear from him enough.

Jack - Interesting character. I liked the concept. I don't get why people hate her just for her looks. She's interesting. Wouldn't mind seeing her return. Loses points due to not being able to talk to her if you're not romancing her. And she just keeps telling me to 'F off!' since apparently anyone who isn't romantically interested in her can't be her friend.

Thane - Didn't really use him much. Maybe you have to romance him to get a good idea of his character. His flashbacks felt like he was trying to hypnotise me. And that reminded me he looks like a giant toad, which reminded me of the hypno toad from Futurama. All glory to the hypno-Thane!

Samara - Psychotic zealots who travel around the galaxy following a code and slaughtering people are fun.

Morinth - Emo version of Samara. Kills you.

Legion - I love Legion. I adore him, in fact. When he said '...There was a hole' and I realised he admires you, even if he doesn't realise it himself, I wanted to pet his flashlight head and adopt him as my son. Only loses a point because, same as for many, you didn't really get to talk to him much. You get him quite late in the game too. Not enough of him!

Zaeed - I don't care what people say, Zaeed was great. You don't get to have direct conversations with him, but his various war stories and clicking on his rifle, Jessie are fun to listen to. He looks like a rugged warrior and has great voice acting. The renegade ending of his loyalty mission is one of the more cinematic parts of the game. But yes, he really didn't feel like he was implemented as well as the others and a 'DLC' character.

Plus, it's really tedious to input all these numbers... Trust me... a sample of 200+ is enough.

Jack - 8 Shes so broken and they show it in such a good way,

Samara - 7 for being as old as she is she is really hot Oo

Zaeed - 6 well some real conversation's would probably have helped this character allot. They did it with shale! No excuses why they diden't do it with Zaeed.

Yeah, I know. I did it for 210 entries of the other thread. I also noticed there was almost no change even from the first to the second group of 100. I just wondered. I'll only get my new statistics software next week, until then I can do no significance tests. I used Excel for my results.
I guess your data will be suitable for more kinds of tests than mine, but then I didn't set up the other thread myself. I only collected its data.

I disagree, as when I posted my scores, I had no idea the data was being recorded for statistics. I truly thought that Kaiden, along with Jacob, were the worst characters in a video game, I ever came across. That ranks as a 1 in my book. For me, there is nothing to like about those characters. I also, resisted putting Jack at 1, because as much as I didn't like the character, I thought that there were worse characters in other franchises.

It might be the case with a few people, but I think the majority aren't compelled to put their most hated characters at 1, and favorite characters at 10. Thane was one of my favorite characters, and I put him at 9.

I rated them based on
a) how likely I was to put them in my party
How interesting they were to talk to

Zaeed got a 1 because I never use him outside his loyalty and you can't talk to him. His character seemed like an afterthought.  I know he was a freebie, but so was Shale in DAO, and she was much more interesting.

If I would have rated them based on A, only Mordin, Miranda, Thane, and Garrus would have scored high.

Well, if a sample is large enough, it will be representative of an entire population.

That was a very interesting read, and I agree with you that "funny" characters are given a bit of a boost in popularity. I found it hilarious that Mordin was #1, that rendition on Gilbert and Sullivan obviously won over the hearts of the fans.

its a pdf file, so just save it to your computer, edit the file name to exclude the extra _ after the file extension

So, the mantra is to rate the following squadmembers from 1-10. Please rank each character in the order which I have provided. Also, please copy and paste the following and prescribe a number after the hyphen. (This makes my life when compiling the results much easier.) I'll share the results with you once I believe that this thread is dead.

Ashley -8 useful class in ME1, dullard
Kaiden -1 the Carth of ME 1, I hate his guts
Wrex - 10, one of the best ME1 characters, you can't go wrong mixing Immunity with Biotics
Garrus - 5 Wasn't thrilled with him in ME1 or 2, but at least he's extremely loyal
Tali - 10, one of my favorite characters, what does she look like under that mask!? but her class is useless
Liara - 10, the Aerie of ME1, 1 for ME2 as they completely ruined the character
Miranda - 10, she can take down both shields and armor plus her character looks sexy and she is ful of herself
Jacob - 1, HATE HIM HATE HIM HATE HIM HATE HIM
Mordin - 10 just for his singing which was amazing and was a huge suprise
Grunt - 5, lackluster character who does a 360 personality wise, never used him
Jack - 1, While I want to like and use her, ME2 completely screwed over Vanguards by making anything with shields or armor on completely invulnerable to all Vanguard biotics, and what Vanguards do have are completely useless against shields and armor. By the time it's red it's basically dead
Thane - 3 Get him far too late in the story to form an attachment, obviously brainwashed
Samara -10, Reave is the absolute best ability in ME2 as it obliterates armor, plus she is fascinating and beautiful
Morinth - Haven't gotten her yet, assuming she is just like Samara and gets Reave a 10 as well, but then again she's a teenager even though she's supposed to be over 400, her personality doesn't match her age
Legion - 3, useless class, love the character's background
Zaeed - 1, HAte him
