Black bars across some of the subtitles?

I looked through a few pages, but couldn't see this asked anywhere. (Still don't know why Search isn't enabled)

Basically, I'm on Miranda's loyalty mission. And suddenly during the cutscenes, part of the subtitles are showing black bars behind them.

So I'll have part of the line looking normal, the other with black behind it.
It doesn't make it harder to read or anything (quite the opposite).
But the game never did that before. And it looks... well, terrible. It would make sense if ALL subtitles were like that, but it's only segments within the sentences.

Has anyone else encountered this? Is there a way to fix it?

I, too, have encountered this problem.

Text seems to come in 3 variations when this occurs.

1. Default light blue, no background.

2. White, no background.

3. White, black background.

Difference between 1 and 2 is hard to see, but the last is annoying.

Didn't you see how OLD this one is? Both of them are surely long gone by now. The fact of the matter is that this symptom (horizontal bar artificacts generally) are usually caused by attempting to use an underpowered system that only has some sort of Intel video chip in it (typically happens with cheap laptops).

I don't remember it, personally. I had a Radeon HD 4850 in the PC I used at the time, I believe.

I actually still get this problem from time to time, but it's not repeatable even if I reload and play the same sequence again. It's a fairly minor issue in the grand scheme of things though, not enough to really ruin my enjoyment of the game.
