Part of the reason I wish it was like this is because I use the glowing to signify areas I haven't explored yet, but chests I can't open remain glowing and are always catching my eye. I'd rather they only glowed if I was playing a rogue or had Leliana selected.

Since nothing critical can be found in chests (and all classes can learn to pick pockets), I wouldn't mind ignoring them. However, the game makes them glow even when I'm playing a character incapable of picking their locks. I wish it was like night vision in BG2 where you could set the option to have it in effect only when selecting a character having that ability.
You can turn it off; check under options.

That's for everything though. I only want locked chests blocked when I'm not controlling a rogue character.WickedAwesome wrote...

I like the bluntless of your reply even though it wasn't really called for..but I feel you did miss my point. You should be able to break open chests. They are after all, only made of wood. As if a locked chest would stop a warrior with a sword or mace. Or even a mage with rudimentry fire magic. And I am used to having to have a rogue in the team. I've been playing Bioware and Black Isle games since the old days. Like I said. It was only a minor gripe.
I do think its rather funny that those who have made a rogue still can't open most of them. Kinda begs the question..why are they there in the first place?
Actually, -you're- missing the point. What good is it to roll a rogue if a warrior can just smash all the chests? Makes rolling a rogue pointless. There needs to be differences between the classes, as in pros and cons. If you don't like not being able to open chests then bring a rogue with you. You don't have to even -be- one to benefit, just have one in your party.

There's also a locked chest in the mage origin story. Also somewhat annoying...

Any locked chest in the mage's origin you can get to when you do the "broken circle" qust, if i remember correctly.

I don't mind being unable to bash open boxes because whenever you can do that in games, it breaks half the stuff inside anyway. That always drives me crazy because I start wondering what awesome things I'm missing out on.
Oh, and traps are actually dangerous in this game (which I love) so the points you put in lockpicking come in pretty useful for that too.

Dude, lighten up. That was totally unappropriate PR. So now, Bioware is all about insulting their customers?
Do what you want, ban me, what ever, but you should think about what he asked, and how you just responded. If I was your boss, I'd fire you.

/agree. I was floored - are they paying this guy to be an obnoxious turd to loyal customers asking questions and offering feedback & suggestions in a polite manner? Wow.

Where is the insult???? He is perfectly right. We don't need you on your white horse coming to save the poor guy who is complaining that 'HULK SMASH' doesn't seem to be the answer to everything in the game.
Way to blow this completely out of proportion. <_<

OP - "Hey I can't IWIN button open chests with my warrior."
Bioware - "We are terribly sorry that we coded a game not to your liking. You are right of course that Warrior's should be able to do everything a rogue can do."
OP - "Hey I can't steal from this NPC. My warrior would just lay the smachdown on this biatch!"
Bioware - "OMG I'm so sorry sir, we are uploading a patch where you can just kill everying okay ohgodimsosorry."
OP - "Hey my warrior breath fire in DRAGON Age. What gives?"
Bioware - "Please accept this virtual h*ndjob".

It doesn't beg any questions at all. This game allows anyone many
options too open these chests. You can make a rogue and spec into, or
get a party member speced into deft hands. I have a rogue and level 4
deft hands. All the time I feel I have wasted points because half of
the items are crap, the rest is mostly vendor trash. Once you progress
in this game, like any game money becomes less an issue because your
finding better stuff through other means.
As far as your idea
too smash a chest open, weather it has been in another game or not. One
can just defend that by destroying the integrity of the chest will
damage the contents. Your boned at both ends of the totem pole. Just
play this awesome RPG as is, or make a

Ha! Well said.
Some games go for 'if you are really want to spread yourself so thin you cant actually acchieve anything, go for it.' Others go for 'We invite you to enjoy this story we have spent ages working on.'
I really dont see the issue myself...Rogues sneak and steal, Warriors fight hardcore, Mages cast spells.
There are plenty of followers available from quite early on.
Few chests have anything particularly spectacular loot wise, although if you can pick locks you benefit from a steady supply of healing and mana replenishment.
Locks are not hard to pick if you focus on being a Thief (Lots of cunning that is).
As for the more serious accusation regarding Stanley Woo's alledged attitude toward the customer..I couldnt really see how his response was at all abusive.
Finally, thanks tonnes to Bioware and all involved. I am loving this game so far, particularly the focus on storytelling. Your effort really does show.
Anyone who just wants to be able to loot and kill everything they encounter may like to consider learning how to use the dev console..but having destroyed a number of games so far, the usual warnings about risks of console use apply here more than i have ever encountered before (and yes, if you want to give youre rogue 2-Handed weapon skills, or the fighter some lockpicking, it can be done...but mages cant learn skils and rogues/warriors cant learn spells..acording to my current experiments.
Regards to all and have fun:wizard:

He asked if he could get a his wishes and was declined. I think you need to read what he wrote, rather than read what you feel.hannahb wrote...

No, they are paying him to deal with people in a very polite manner, but apparently people can't read a line with a develop title over it without it coming across as extremely rude.Daedalus1773 wrote...

Wow.
If you think Stan is rude, you'd think Chris was about to rape your soul.
