I dont know. I still think one could help him. and remember the dwarven mage was looking into new ways to help with the lyrium addictions including inhaling it instead of drinking it. this could help the templars not go crazy although as a warden you have the same mental lifespan as a templar 30 years or so. so one could still travel the deep roads and die together in romantic glory. and there is no difference in having Zevan trying to kill you and haveing Cullen trying to kill you. with time love patience one could bring him into the light and go through a hardening process. when romancing Zevan I also sleep with a dagger under my pillow lol. so everyone who doesnt like Cullen are just haters Hes hot and redeemable as well as having admirable traits lol. I wonder if he has a twin ....

He's crazy, sweetie. Love can't fix crazy. As much as I adore Cullen, he's broken in the head, and would be a liability after the Mages Tower incident. I don't think it's entirely down to Lyrium (though I doubt that helps) but more down to the being tortured for days by Blood Mages and watching his brothers in arms die off one by one.



But he was cute in a kinda unstable way for the female mage origin.

lol yeah I love Alistairs Character so far my Human Noble is Macin on Alistair (Yay Queen of Fereldon) but my Elf Mage is not really romancing anyone shes just BFF with everyone lol. but she isnt very far in the game yet either lol.

I thought Cullen was a bit creepy as well. But, I would like to see him in Awakenings or a future expansion. I kind of want to tie up the loose end of why out of all the apprentices in the tower he became so obsessed with my mage. Even if you aren't a female mage he would be an interesting character to bring back in a side quest, though he would very likely be a villain.

 An amnesiac Templar with lyrium withdrawl... You know what, screw common sense, I just want to see Cullen as a romantic option to see if he can outcreep loved up Morrigan and Lelianna (I'm betting he can't).

Perish the thought! I would probably sacrifice myself rather than kill cullen lol i would have to avoid that qwest altogether. my RPG toon is too in love with him lol. My warrior on the other hand would kill him then ask questions later lol.

Zevran isn't crazy; he's just trying to suicide via grey warden.  Cullen is crazy!

 I'd love to see that happen, especially with Alistair involved. I can just picture a wonderfully amusing scene of Wynne and Morrigan getting sliced and diced by Cullen in the background while Alistair and the Warden argue about who gets to be the most irrational and emotional about people from their past. 

 And I'm not even being snarky! I would truly love to see that, just like the romance

Cullen is lost. He can't be anything else than a templar who looks toward the Chantry. He's a very creepy guy. Not hat I'm saying it's his fault entirely, but he is a lyruim addicted religious zealot, who would slay the mage girl in order to get her out of his system. She's everything bad he's been taught. Her death woudl free him, and he would take that 'out' in a heart-beat.

I have to agree with you on him being too lost.  I haven't played the female mage yet but from what I have seen of Cullen n from the lil that I have talked to him ya he's just a tad on the TOO CREEPY side.  Even if Cullen was to be romanceable there would be no way, not after seeing him n talking to him... Trying to reason with him's impossible, to be able to romance him ha, that's a joke lol.

N to compare him to Zevran omg are you way off... Get to know Zevran, listen to his stories, I've yet to romance him but ugh there's no comparison there at all.

Edit: At least with Zevran it really doesn't seem like his hearts into being an assassin, he does try n make his assassin attempt up by trying to befriend you.  Cullin would kill you n not even bat an eye or feel remorse.

cullens mage start is the same way - his heart isnt into killing mages he does it because he has to and he was told to - no different than zevan being told to kill certian people by the crows. also cullen is killing blood mages and abominations not innocents so in theory zevan is the same. i see them as similar also zevan overcame killing ricca and being betrayed i bet cullen could as well. i still think he could be a valid option and i still say the crazy part is what we all face. all the companions have something in their past they have to face and overcome and cullen would be no different.

also one is judging cullen right after the even where only Alistair is seen right after his trauma. everyone else had a while to come to terms with things so to speak before our warden hero meets them and Sten KILLED a whole family before we find him. Whos crazy? maybe give Cullen a week and he would be ok. (Like Sten)

No, Cullen is creepy from the start. He is feeling bad about wanting her, and he would do anything to get her out of his system. There is no romance here. He is a addled templar, and she represents something that will take him away from the Chantry and his religious breeding. Hes also a drug addict. The Chantry is his supplier.

That can't be happening. He'd kill her, and do so, feeling justified. He's not in love, he's in lust. Killing the mage girl would solve all his problems, and he'd not hesitate to do so. He would feel perfectly justified in raping her, and then killing her for 'making him do that.' Cullen is not ever an option for my mage girls. He's a weird creep, and I thoroughly dislike him.

Some people can't be fixed. Some women think all a crazy man needs is love, though. I've known a few, unfortunately. It always ends badly (usually with her running for her life, often with him keeping an eye on her for a long time afterwards).

No he cant be freed. He's too far into the lyrium and the religious zealotry. He's beyond hope. All the attraction he feels for the mage girl is wrapped around guilt. Nothing more. If she dies, so does the guilt and the temptation, please listen to him closely at the end of the 'Tower quest".

Nope love definitely doesn't conquer all, it's a nice fantasy but that's all it is.  Unfortunately some people learn the hard way.

He thinks your fem-mage is gross and dirty.  That's not love.  If that turns your fem-mage on, it's too bad for both of them there are no therapists in Ferelden.
