Well, all I wanted to ask is already stated in the title - how to enable GPU-accelerated PhysX in DAO?

Right now it works on CPU... anyone got any ideas?

(of course, I am talking about Nvidia only setup)

Not sure you can without modding or changing the game code. I figure Bioware set it to CPU only, so that everyone would have the same expierence, but yea, I'd like to enable it on GPU, especially seeing as how the graphics arn't all that taxing and I think my 260 could handle it.

=\\ I don't think, you are right.

BioWare is using PhysX, and that means, that it could be handled by GPU (Nvidia).

It is like in Borderlands - you can have it GPU accelerated, or you can have all the features but only on CPU with or without Nvidia cards...

so, I think, it will eventually arrive... (i really hope it does)

Well, I think it might be a bug after further reading. In a post on the old forums, one of the dev's mentions that it should use GPU by default if your card and settings support it.

Does it really support PhysX? I find that... interesting in light of the ATI logo on the box.

I am using the newest nvidia beta drivers, 195.39, and they have a PhysX Indicator option in the 3D Settings menu (next to the File / Edit / View etc), which shows text at the top left corner in the game, indicating what type of physx acceleration the game is using. in Dragon Age, it shows : PhysX > CPU.

Does anyone have a clue on how to enable GPU mode? I sure wouldnt mind a couple more fps.

Yes it does. It's not extensive though. Mostly to calcuate arrow collisoins and such. If you have the latest Nvidia drivers, there is an option to show where it's being process, or if it's using Physx at all. Besides, there have been lots of dev posts stating it.

Honestly I don't think it's using enough PhysX for it to matter. It also doesn't use SLI, but that doesn't stop you from setting the SLI Anti-aliasing options and making the game look a lot better. I'm running a 720 tri-core Phenom II with 4GB of RAM, Windows 7 64-bit (RC7100) and 2 9800GTX+ 1GB BFG cards. if you have a fairly good CPU, the game's Physx isn't going to tax it much.

Yea, I have a dualcore e6750, and both cores are at 100%, though that could just be a bug or something, though the recommended requirements do state a quad.

Looks like we are stuck to CPU for the time being... well, at least untill a proper patch comes out... (if I am not mistaken, latest Batman game had a patch released, that added GPU accelerated PhysX...may be we just have to wait...)

Actually Batman had it built in when it was first released, it was even in the demo.

I never saw the merit of a SLI setup. a second card only gives 25% increase anyway. As for the physx in this game, It hardly effects your cpu as it only has minor things running on it.

There are actually two ways of PhysX-support: General support and special support. The later comes with special effects that wont work unless you have a good Nvidia graphic card. Games like Mirrors Edge and Batman AA make use of these special effects.

And then there are games with a general support of PhysX, like Mass Effect for instance. It supports PhysX-acceleration on a basic level, so that ATi-cards can work with it too and don't have a disadvantage.

This is fine in my opinion. If there is no urgent need for adding these special PhysX-effects into a game then they should stick with the basic PhysX-acceleration. ^^
