i think all of us are worried about a quantity over quality issue. a'mean, bioware has to basically write and produce at least 9 romance stories to satisfy everyone. consider me nervous...

They are fully voicing an entire MMO. Believe me when I say that compared to that, 9 romance stories is very easy.

Yeah, but they'll make their money back on how ever much was dropped on VAs with the price of the game itself and the monthly subscriptions. :(
I'm hoping that doing 9 romances will be easy too, I'm just a bit of a pessimist at times.

with the HUGE success of the ME franchise, it's very feasible from a financial perspective.

for christ's sake look at the cast of ME2; they've got some deep pockets, considering they never mentioned financial issues that i'm aware of.

You also can't discount the fact that EA is with Bioware. That's plenty of money there.

I don't ever see Shepard settling down. It's kinda like how Anderson never remarried, even though him and some other scientist chick hit it off real nice in the first book. But with Shepard, it's more of a, "I've been serving on star ships since I was 18, I'll never REALLY be done defending the galaxy" thing. I think, the romances should be a touch more complex(like Jack's romance, but not a one time decision), and if you get to the point that you both consider and have expressed interest in getting married/attached, a nice ambiguous scene at the end where Shep is proposing would be awesome. Then they just have a nice semi-permanent spot in your crew.

But yeah, Shepard is never going to just "settle down" somewhere with an LI. Shepard is a career soldier, a commander to the end. They might try to shove him/her into an office in the end, but Shepard would just blast a hole in a space station wall/bulkhead and escape in the Normandy VIII (a stealth super dreadnought XXL) and fly around the galaxy saving it from all sorts of threats no one else but him/her and the crew believe exists, because it doesn't when they come around to check it out.

Settle down with Garrus. I don't see my Shep having kids (especially after dying and being brought back, I highly doubt she's even still capable of carrying a baby to term), but in the far far FAR future, LONG after the end of ME3, she might be willing to adopt Turian or human kids with Garrus.

I wonder if male Shepard shoots blanks after the Lazarus Project.

I hope you don't have to choose as well.  If BW is going to carry though with the "cheating has consequences" Ash shouldn't even be an option for you in ME3.  A good fight scene where she put the screws to Shep for a bit would be welcome though.

You should be able to stay with Miranda or start a new one.  Starting a new one shouldn't be an easy thing though since by now the crew should be starting to catch on to your Kirk'ing ways. ;)

As other people have said. It would be nice to just have them exchange "I love you"s.

Shepard never says it to anybody, closet you get is the Kaiden/Ashely "I loved you" thing.

how ver filling the Normandy with little adopted Quarian babies would be pretty hilarious.

I hope "cheating" doesn't have TOO much of a negative impact. I mean, I openly stated that I was no longer interested in Ashley, and she essentially said the same to me before I romanced Tali. I think a confrontation between LI1 and LI2 would be cool, but I don't want to get dumped for "cheating" when I didn't really cheat.

ya know what would be really interesting if there was a life and death situation where both of your love interests are in trouble but you can only save one and the one you don't save dies

.......

Anyways.....

I think that having kids/marriage would be kinda wierd, honestly. That doesn't really fit Shepard.

I think both the male and female Sheps should get three LIs each. You get a chance to continue the romance with either your ME1 or ME2 LI, or romance a new character that is introduced in ME3.

Ok, while I don't buy the idea that someone like Shep would easily settle down (married to the job), I think that the romantic subplots could very well be a good way to get them to settle down for a while at least. Maybe not marriage, maybe just going on an 'extended furlough' or maybe just slipping away and going AWOL, but it would be one helluva cherry on the top of saving the galaxy

I mean, how many times will Shep have to save the universe? Yeesh, pass the torch to someone else!

Kaidan Ash and Liara were intentionally sidelined so they could survive and have bigger roles in ME3.

Ash sealed her fate when she turned her back on my Shepard and then tried to make nice via interstellar e-mail... everyone knows the most sincere apologies are done in person! (or at least holo-calls...) Rather than starting a new love interest as default like in ME2, it'd be nice to have the option of continuing past romances from ME2, like say Tali for instance (my choice). Which would also of course require said people also continuing major roles in ME3, like as part of my MVP squad where Tali's been since storming Chora's Den in the first game.

Well, while technically I would agree it wasn't cheating, there would have had to be an actual romance in ME2 with the ME1 LI for that to happen, it was obviously the dev's intent all along to make you choose to either "cheat" or stay faithful.

If "cheating" doesn't have any consequence and you still have all the same romance options available as someone who "stayed faithful" then cheating didn't really have much of a consequence did it?

I just foresee a big argument, big choice for Shepard, and then the LI he dropped giving him the "I'm only with you because we're saving the galaxy," thing. Like Handmaiden.

I'd like to see you be able to choose your team of 10 or so people from ME1, ME2, and new people for ME3. This way the character can drive whatever drama or outcomes they want to see. Giving the player flexibility [instead of forcing a choice] is infinitely preferable to most other schemes I could come up with and likely more satisfying that what I saw in ME2 [for continued LIs].

As for me I'm scrounging my save games so my renegage can be loyal to Liara all the way through, I can dump Ash for Tali with a Paragon who "settled" in ME1, and one game where I killed my LI on Vermire to see if I would get any simpathy .... but at least I don't have to worry about jilted lovers :)
