I just foresee a big argument, big choice for Shepard, and then the LI he dropped giving him the "I'm only with you because we're saving the galaxy," thing. Like Handmaiden.

Unfortunately that is probably what it will amount to.  I hope BW takes the time to make your ME2 choices actually carry some consequence though.

i just want fair treatment for all LIs. This is the final game in the series- pull out all the stop! theres no point in holding anything back. give us some kind of conclusion, and make all our choices count concerning romance, cheating, not cheating, whatever

I agree. Bioware doesn't need to worry about importing to ME4. Gotta have a great finale, and a great conclusion for the romances. It's what the fans want.

Interesting reading the posts so far and seeing everyone's take on Shep. Each of our Sheps are different. I can see some of mine settling down with their respective LIs, with others just deciding to spend the rest of their days kicking back on a beach sucking down mai tais. They've managed to save the galaxy 3x in a row so they're entitled to step aside and think about themselves for once.

I just hope we do get to see a wide range of options to cover these choices.

Yeah thats what I liked about DA2. The LI's weren't afraid of saying "I love you"

Technically, Kaiden did say the big three words.
....Before calling Shepard a traitor.
They're going to guilt-trip us with the VS in ME3, aren't they?
Ah well, at least my canon runs don't have to worry about ME1 LI's

My Shepard just wants to retire and settle down with his LI at the end of ME3. Maybe buy some property on Mars.

To quote Danny Glover in Lethal Weapon "I'm getting too old for this sh*t."

You mean besides ME style tasteful love scenes?

Unique moments with LI at work station like we saw in ME2 but also allow the LI to come to your cabin for SB style talking before the usual final mission luving

Now something for BW to note those of us who have LI at least from ME2 after traumatic episodes both the main mission and sidequest wise if LI isn't present and then we get back to ship and go see them at least have them talk to us they don't have to read the mission brief per say but show their concern. For instance I've got 2 examples for this

1st example: Derelict reaper we get in we kill the core it crashes and we come back with a surprise geth present for the crew LI if they did go with us on mission would be like, " That was a hell of a mission but exactly why did you bring the geth with us again?" and if they weren't with you they should've been like, " Every time I leave you, you try to get yourself killed is this a normal thing?" and in Tali's case " YOU BOUGHT A GETH ON BOARD HAVE YOU LOST YOUR MIND!"

Example 2 the latest arrival mission sheps been gone for two days had questionable things done to them and nothing from LI? They weren't worried concerned ready to make up their own search party? It's really weird its like we're not even in a relationship shep disappears for two days with no transmissions sent to joker, edi, miranda or anyone and no one is concerned about this? Sure its shep but really be concerned here peeps!

It wouldn't kill the LI to address shep when in a one on one setting ie their station on ship or privately in his/their room in sometype of loving tone they don't need to stop calling shepard well shepard but certain ones like Liara or Ash could call him an affectionate name, Tali could use Quarian or just speak like she's happy to be with you. The guys could use this too I imagine Jacob might use a pet or nick name for shep but Garrus would just speak differently like he's happy she's there.

If LI gets that invite part like we got at end of ME2 can they talk like really? If not dont' include this type of interaction its weird.

Now others ideas I like:

It'd be nice if they finally say I love you

If they could find out more about your background

Maybe visiting their home world or childhood home

I hope the "love triangle resolution" is handled well, not just with a generic scirpt that any two LIs follow. I also hope you can sort of take the measure of both your potential LIs before you decide which way to go.

I get the feeling that Thane, Jacob, and Garrus would all have wildly different reactions to Kaidan or Liara coming back. I hope that comes through. Same for Miranda, Jack and Tali vs. Ash or Liara. Though one thing that amuses me - other than Thane, don't all the ME2 Femshep LIs feel a lot more casual than the male ones? I mean, in Tali's case it's "Lois Lane and Superman" and in Jack's it's "save me from myself." Much more serious than reach and flexibility or the priiiiiiiiize.

Well I'd like for ME3 to resolve the ME1 romances pretty early on - either by getting them back together or ending it. I like the idea of going through ME3 in an established relationship already with the ME1 folks, and also with the ME2 folks as well. A real relationship with a foundation would be interesting rather than the wooing and leadup to the eventual "romance conclusion" just before the end of the game. That's what I'd like to see anyway.

And possibly even new romance options (or newly romanceable options) for folks who didn't romance anyone in the previous games.

If I even explained how I would want my romances to go forth in these series...half of you would have heart palpitations, others would scream that their eyes are burning, and half of you would be guilty of the most sultry impure thoughts of all time. So, I'll just keep quiet. But, if you are curious...you could always message meh. LOL! *ahem* I'm serious.

Ok now that I've read mostly everyones heres some of the other things I agree with:

Shep admitting his love for LI too! Shep has to say he/she loves them too!

Personally in ME3 I want to fight sight by side with my LI. Facing all challenges and stronger to
gether than apart. Of course there should be an admission of love if you went that route in your relationship. Assuming we both live to the end, it would be nice to get a little epilogue piece to say where you both went from there.

If you have two different LIs (from both games) of course you should be able to get them both on your team and some tricky situations to deal with. Because thats just more fun.

What I don't want is for my LI (Tali in this case) to be sidelined to a cameo role in ME3. I also don't want anyone else's LI being sidelined either. Fair is fair and everyone should be able to have the person most important to them on their team.

Probably the only exception would be Thane, barring some last minute miracle cure. But I'm guessing most who went into that relationship knew it was likely to end tragically.

I'd like some kind of rewarding epilogue telling the player what Shepard and his LI did after the end. I assume that's what we'll be getting.

Is it fair to assume that Tali would know already if you had prior LI in ME1? I can see Tali getting scared and nervous if LI shows up if you romanced anyone in ME1 and her in ME2, because she'll be afraid you'll leave her, but it would be kind of weird if Tali got upset about finding out about you and prior LI in ME3, because she somehow didn't get it in ME1.

How I want it to be handled? Maturely! Not this "Hi, I'm McDreamy, wanna shag?" stuff we got in ME2. And yes I want my LI fighting by my side. I would love to see a deepened relationship between the two that doesn't end with a lovescene before the big finally like in the previous chapters

Don't want to see babies

maybe an engagement or some other sort of official declaration of their relationship.

What I don't want is for my LI (Tali in this case) to be sidelined to a cameo role in ME3

I do not understand how the Shep could be declared legally dead, be brought back to life and still be considered a cheater if the Shep romances someone else in ME2. Seriously if you "put out" and then stopped "putting out" to actually feel you have some voice over where the Shep gets thier action you are seriously delusional.

Personally, I think the romance aspect in ME an' ME2 is severely lacking in depth. Adding more options, means of courting, fresh new system or mini-game would be awesome. Bioware's RP elements are becoming too streamlined, needs something fresh!
That said, I would really like there to be some kind of "formalization" of the emotions of Shepard and the chosen love interest. A "love you" conversation could work, and some kind of hint that they were intending to stay together.

***I would personally like seeing it going both ways, as anyone likely knows, relationships can either be a breeze or a storm. But not something based off on paragon-renegade choices but through dialog and interaction through the choices you make e.a. if you show a more deeper personal concern for someone else than the love interest ***

Ash sealed her fate when she turned her back on my Shepard and then tried to make nice via interstellar e-mail... everyone knows the most sincere apologies are done in person!

I'd like to see you be able to choose your team of 10 or so people from ME1, ME2, and new people for ME3. This way the character can drive whatever drama or outcomes they want to see. Giving the player flexibility [instead of forcing a choice] is infinitely preferable to most other schemes I could come up with and likely more satisfying that what I saw in ME2 [for continued LIs].

Personally, I would like some sort of romance conclusion. Marriage or living together, or something to that effect.

Seeing as this is the last game of trilogy.  Bioware did do something like that in Dragon Age: Origins, but the marriage with Alistair was bittersweet if I'm not mistaken. Mods could that fix problem somewhat in DA:O, but Mass Effect is largely unmoddable.

If nothing else, some sort of powerful imagery, like Shepard and whomever watching the sunset.
The accompayning poll:
http://social.biowar...908/polls/1975/

A brisk fun-filled screw before the last mission as per the Mass Effect tradition would do nicely.

The rest is for terrible fanfic and loser obsessives to wallow in.

I honestly don't know how big of a deal "cheating" on your ME1 LI in ME2 will be. Shepard was laid up, mostly dead, for two years! The relationship is basically over at that point. Some kind of confrontation will take place, probably... but I can't imagine it being some huge thing.

How did Liara react during Shadow Broker if you "cheated" on her? Does anyone know? (I never romanced her). I imagine Ashley/Kaidan would react sort of the same way.

Oh I'm jumping on the whole "NO BABIES" bandwagon.

Happy to leave the fate of my Shepard and Ash up in the air, so to speak. Just knowing that they're together is enough at the end for me.

Then the rest can be left to me to write terrible fanfic and wallow with my "loser obsessiveness."

She was understanding, but she's always been the understanding one.

In ME1 if you have the love triangle, both LIs confront you. Liara is very nice about the whole thing, while your human LI is a bit... confrontational. If you romanced someone else in ME2, I think you can choose whether or not to continue with Liara, with very little in the way of speedbumps if you choose to do so.

That said, Kaidan and Ash both seem more the Jealous type, Ash especially. So that will be interesting.

There is no cheating involved with Ashley. There's only moving on from a character who's struggling to remain relevant in the whole ME saga. Back in ME 1 she was an illicit roll in the hay right before a suicide mission.  In ME 2 she all but kicks you in the nuts on Horizon after you save her life.

And as a general rule regarding women, never put them on a pedestal and never apologize for being a man. Slightly aloof easy-going teasing to be maintained at all times, barring exceptional circumstances.

Right before the final beatdown with the reaper's you'll have the option for a fully clothed fade to black moment, or not. Your choice. Romances continued? Check.

Pretty much.  Rated M for fade to black.  ^_^  Actually I like that better than the awkward Barbie doll looking animated fumbling.  They did it really well in ME1.  Something like that, well shot and tasteful would suit me.

The fully-clothed dry humping was rather odd in ME2... I imagine it was because of the backlash over the dirty, evil, naked abdomen and thigh that you got to see in ME1. I thought ME1 was tastefully done. At least meet us half-way, video game censors... like the underwear in DA:O.

Well, I mostly agree with everyone here...but about the babies...

I wouldn't like any cheesy scene with Shepard nursing her baby or caressing her belly, that would be...involuntariously hilarious, totally out of character. But some hints at pregnancy,"in the air", that maybe would be nice. Difficult to do flawlessly, but maybe...
