I think some kind of marriage/family/commitment scene at the very end of the game would be cool. I'dd love it if the Commander came back from a victory cruise in the Normandy to greet his/her spouse holding his/her child. It's be sweet.

Or even if the spouse was on the Normandy and it showed the various attempts by the crew to babysit while the parents went on a mission. Mordin and Grunt would be particularly hilarious.

While I also think it would be hilarious to see Shep and partner asking Mordin, Grunt, or Wrex to babysit, as a mother myself, I do not want to see Shepard pregnant during ME3.  After is fine (in Jade Empire, I think I remember my female character having a kid with Sky in the epilogue), but I don't see a femShep having a kid any time soon.  FemShep is bad***, but saving the galaxy while pregnant is asking too much.  I was super-relieved when there was no offspring from that "night" before Ilos in ME2.

A family for Shepard (either through birth with one of the human love interests or with Liara, or through adoption) would be a good way to end Shepard's story, especially a paragon Shepard. I could that happening at the end of Mass Effect 3.

I say we let Moridin take care of the genetics and make us a cross species baby. He is the kind of guy who could pull it off and then sing a happy song about it.

I don't see it out of the realm of possibilities if your LI was an Asari (Liara, or maybe a new one in ME3...never know), or human...maybe a brief mention in the epilogue or something. BW has done it before.

I just pictured a final cut scene where your LI (let's say Miranda) shows up, and she is sporting a baby bump. Awesomeness. :P

I think the baby should be part of your inventory like Aerie's baby was in BG II, lol.

I think the people who have an LI deserve a short little cut scene at the end with their chosen love. Each one slightly different, depending on circumstance. Some super sweet and cutesy (Tali), some perhaps a bit tragic (Jack maybe), and even some more mature and comforting (Liara). Who knows, but after what will probably be 4-5 years after the first game (hoping 2011!!) I think we should ge ta satisfying conclusion.

I'm hoping they don't turn to SCIENCE! to make a child possible. If they go with the "settling down to raise a family" ending; his non-human and non-asari ending should be adoption or a life of simply being with his wife. Like Carl from UP.

ugh. i hope not. My Shepard does not want to have kids. end of story. She/he would simply leave the relationship before allowing that to happen.

Only time will tell, in the end the writers & creative directors make the calls, unless the fans complain enough...

2 options for Shepards stuck with an incompatible partner (Tali, Garrus, and Thane)
1: Adoption
2: Miranda's Father's route (this would be a much cooler route imo).

My shep would love to settle down with Tali after the Reapers are gone and adopt a few kids. I think some sort of adoption is the best way to go.

Just want to Shep happy at the end of this space-opera, w/ the option of having kids rather than no option at all; all the time put into saving the galaxy should have a great epilogue, a sense of closure or at least a "next gen" will finish what I started scenario.

I'd also agree, no pregnancies during the game, either for FShep or female LIs.  I can live with having my LI fighting alongside me - she's an adult and made that choice - but there's just no way in hell I'm taking a pregnant woman or children into a warzone.

That said, why not leave the business of children up to the player? At some point in the game, you and your LI have a conversation about the future, and he/she brings up the subject of kids (biological or adopted as circumstances permit). You then have the option to say "Yes, let's start a family" or "No, let's just enjoy each other" or words to that effect. Your choice influences what you see in the final ending.  Easy enough to do, and gives most people* the ending they want for their Shep.

* Unless you just won't be complete without a rachni love baby.  Even Science! has nothing to offer you on that one.

I don't think so, I think it would really detract from the story. if they were to carry ME3 to an ME4 and you had a kid... that would make shephard seem like a complete loser..

Can you imagine..

"Hey Quarian, don't do that on this station, or they'll have you kill.... BILLY!! GET AWAY FROM THAT BATARIAN... Excuse me" *Runs after Billy who now has 3 Batarians chasing him for breaking their store*

Personally, I think the game should just end at the end of the adventures, with the galaxy saved, and that's it. What comes after that is better left to the imagination, in my opinion. Talking about the future is one thing, but I'm a big fan of the game being over when it's over.

Perhaps it's because my Shepard has all the maternal instinct of a ham sandwich.

No.

Kids complicate things, besides Shep already has Grunt to raise. ;)

Now that *would* make Shep a loser, taking his/her kid on missions.  Children do not belong in a combat environment, period end of story, and I can't imagine any military parent saying otherwise.

People with families have been going to war since the history of mankind.  One parent gets deployed, other parent stays home with kids - or both parents get deployed, kids stay with grandparents/aunts/uncles/etc.  In this case, Shepard is deployed to deal with some galactic nastiness, and Junior stays home with the other parent.  He/she isn't involved except as a nice picture on Shep's desk and maybe an email saying "Hi Daddy/Mommy, hope you're busting up the bad guys, love you lots!" or somesuch.

In any case, Shepard Jr., being a military brat, probably won't be destroying people's stores or the like.  Dad/Mom would have made it very clear that "do not touch, speak only when spoken to, be polite and respectful if you are" was a direct order.  Unless Junior likes the idea of thirty days' confinement to quarters and daily head cleaning detail, he/she isn't likely to disobey.:pinched:

Ha!  Grunt is like an adorable, oversized kid.  Even his crazyrage has my Shep going (in my head) "How cute! Baby Krogan rage!"

Yeah, my Shepard has her hands full with Kolyat (a literal stepson), Grunt and Jack as is. Next thing she knows they're all going to hijack a space station and drive it into the nearest moon. She has no interest in having her own biological children.

That said, if people just HAVE to have the option, I agree in that it should be an option, something you can pursue/trigger through dialog with your LI.
