When I complete the Elven Alienage part of the Landsmeet storyline I keep seeing a little elf girl named Amethyne sitting on the ground after exiting from the slaver's warehouse. She says something about mama giving her a present when she gets back from Highever. Is she connected to some quest? She seems kind of pitiful, just sitting there in the dirt, waiting for her mother....

No help from the wiki that I could find....

There are a number of Elite rank characters that serve no purpose, like the one in the Denerim market. I think they serve as marks for pickpocketing personally.

Nope there's nothing you can do for her n it's sad too especially if you played HN. Amethyne's mom is the elven woman that you meet in Highever before it gets attacked... If you played HNM you can actually sleep with her mom n um well her ending isn't so nice n it makes seeing Amethyne harder cause you were just with her mommy seconds before her life ended. So yes seeing her can be a tearjerker... I always feel so bad for her especially when you know who her mommy is n know she's never coming back.

If you played human noble, you get to talk to(and sleep with) an elf servant named Iona, who talks about her daughter back in the alienage(amethyne).



Either way you can't do anything with her. It seems like they were planning on doing something with her, but I guess they either scrapped it or just wanted to put her there to make you feel bad.

Have the Dev's ever said why she's there? Look at where she's at when you come out from doing the Alienage quest. Smack dab right in front of you, I see it as a reminder especially if you've played HN. A reminder of how far Howe n Loghain's treachery goes...

Amethyne is there to completely wrench your heart out of your chest if you've played as a Human Noble and talked to Iona.

Lol just a curious question, how many of you men have slept with Iona only to have her die in your room n then come across Amethyne n feel guilty?

I'm a female but the first time I played a HNM n I did that I definitely felt guilty, n then it made me hate Howe n Loghain even more. Howe had already died by my hands but it made the decision to kill Loghain easier.

Then I wanted to drag Anora out by her hair to Amethyne, n show her what her precious daddy n his Orleasan fear did. But then Amethyne is an Elf so as far as Loghain n Anora are concerned they are expendable. Maybe that's goin to far on Anora but I have a feeling she's just like her father.

Yes, Amethyne is one of the saddest NPC's in game. My HNF didn't sleep with her mother (Yes, Dairren and Iona go both ways), but she did talk to her, and she liked Iona. Not being able to help the little girl was heart-wrenching. I wish my PC could talk Shianni or actually anyone in the alienage into taking care of the little girl. She'd gladly give them the means to do so, by then my PC has the money for it.

Well, HN females can sleep with her too, you know - Iona and Dairren swing both ways ;-)

Well, now I really feel bad. Not only because my Dalish Elf can't help Amethyne on this playthrough but on other games my HN did sleep with Iona and I never made that connection with the child when I ran across her in the Alienage..../sigh.



When I return to the Alienage during the final battle I'm going to check to see if Amethyne is still there, hopefully there won't be a pile of bones...!

NEver saw the Child, but all Children are indoors during the Final Battle. Don't know exactly where, but she WON'T be dead, likely, unless you as the player don't defend the Alienage. So you can do some small thing for her...

I wanted to at least be able to give her money or something. Or a hug, but that would require a cut scene.

I personally wish you could get the option of adopting Amethyne if your from the Human Noble story, everytime time I passed her I felt so guilty, because her mom was so sweet and pretty and all. I really wished that we could have given Amethyne something or adopt her even if it would be considered controversial for a human of Noble blood (or future queen) to adopt an elf.
