Just curious to see what other people think her accent is based off of.  I always thought her accent was derived from eastern european countries such as czech republic/ romania or somthing.

I never really thought about it to be honest. I found her voice to be pretty unique actually.

Eastern european. Whoever tells you she sounds like a gypsy has never heard a real one.

Def European, not sure of the accent tho, Altho the Quarian People seem to derive their language from some sort of German "Tali-Zorah Vas Normandy Nar Rayya" or how ever it was organized.

I'd say it's middle eastern. Or as far Europe as turkey. Compare the suit quarians wear to burkas. Check out the voice actors too

Persia..yyyy... Turkish IMO

I thought that I recognized the voice of Tali's aunt (the one on the Admiralty Board) from a couple of episodes of FlashForward, and it turns out I was right. Just checked and she's from Iran.
On the other hand however, the surname of the actress playing Tali is Polish... or at least there is a Polish word (spelled and pronounced the same way) and it means 'magpie'. But, the accent itself is far more Turkish/Iranian than Polish.

What about Dutch? Adam Baldwin voices one of the quarians in this game. Quarians from different ships seem to have different accents.

Yeah that us true. I just think in general there's a few middle eastern similarities. There was a pommy voice actor as a pom too. Varying accents for other ships sounds good.

Dutch is what first came to my mind... Whatever they were aiming for, it's sexy! I approve.

OP the Czech Republic is nowhere near eastern Europe like Romania, Ukraine, Bulgaria and other such countries. It is located at the very central part of Europe so it is supposed to be referred to as a central European country. Please, get educated first if you want your geography to look plausible.
As far as Tali's accent, I think she sounds a bit Russian/Ukrainian.

Nope, definately not Russian/Ukrainian. See S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and compare.

Russian/Ukranian is a completely different breed. I'd have to say it's a mixture of a lot of Eastern European accents, or maybe it's one all on it's own.

Didn't the VO actress say it was pretty much made up? But if I had to guess, I'd say it's definitely influenced by some kind of Slavic language (but that's a pretty broad term). Definitely not Dutch anyway. Sounds to me like it's maybe influenced by some Serbo-Croatian dialect(s)? But I'm from northern Europe, so please don't flame me if I'm wrong. :)

always sounded czech to me; but you could just check. I always thought it was the voice actresses accent because the other quarians have different accents. However she doesnt have an accent >_<

I'm from the Netherlands and I've got family in the Ukraine. It's definitely neither a Dutch, Russion or Ukrainian accent.

It's pretty hard for me to make it out behind the helmet-distortion-effect they've put on her voice, but I'm also going with a vague Slavic accent.

Yeah, I believe that vague Slavic is the best description we will get. Because as I said, I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that it was made up.

I like that *most* of the Quarians have accents. What I find odd is that some, like Kal Reegar, do not. Or some have a completely different, British sounding accent. I guess in game you can explain away the ones that don't sound like Tali as speaking Quarian, and being translated into Galactic by one of those gems that people wear in their ears.

It's Lelianna. Don't you know all the Quarrans are just Dragon Age characters under the helm?

Well, Tali is voiced by Liz Sroka and sroka is Polish for magpie. So I'd guess that the voice actor has Polish roots and may be applying an accent she heard from E. European family.

In any case, it definitely sounds E. European to me.
