So which is better for Samara Area of affect reave/throw/pull or the dps version? (in general)

Also should I generally go the area of effect route with my squads powers?

I always give her Area Reave and I usually have Area Reave as a bonus on my Vanguard, it rocks :)

Area, lets you strip the barriers/armor of entire groups of collectors/vorcha

Meh idk. Things just aren't generally close enough to justify AOE. I would say that if you are doing Hardcore or Insanity then Area Reave is pretty great simply because husks bunch together and have armor. Samara with Area Reave and Area Throw = easy husk battles. But if, for some reason, you dont want to take her on husk battles, then I would go Heavy Reave.

Also, just in general, I would say always get Area Throw and Pull Field. Extra duration on pull is silly since the thing will be dead before the normal duration is over. And Throw is most useful on mobs rushing you like husks. In that case, you want to be able to hit multiple ones at once.

If you hit atleast two people somewhat regularly with it then it is worth it.  I found myself hitting 2 targets somewhat regularly fairly often to make it worth it.

The thing about Area Reave vs Heavy Reave is that it's different from Incineration Blast vs Heavy Incinerate. (Slightly off-topic, but the OP did talk about squad powers as well.)

Incinerate already has a 1.2m radius. Heavy Incinerate is 70 DPS, Area is 56.7 for 3m. It's either +40 damage vs +1.8m, in the same time frame.

Area Reave and Heavy Reave, however, have a different comparison. Heavy Reave extends the duration by 1.5s - the DPS is constant. Reave by itself is also single target. So it's +1.5s (60 damage or 120 damage vs armor) or +3m.

I personally don't think the 1.5s is all that important compared to better general utility, so I tend to go Area Reave, and Heavy Incinerate.

Area reave, because it doesn't have AoE to hit people around cover like overload does.

It's not really about additional 1.5 sec. The difference in damage to health between the two versions of Reave is negligible. Besides, if enemies are stripped of their armor and shields they're as good as dead anyway. However, Heavy Reave has one considerable advantage over Area Reave in that it hits armor and barriers for 120 more damage instantly, which is nothing to sneeze at.

That being said, I still think that on Hardcore and Insanity Area Reave is much better. On Veteran, however, it's probably not.

If I may ask Since I just got her is it better to train her to Sapiens or Caedo Justicar?
Or skip over this and train another attack?
Like Throw or Pull
