yeah, but the alternative of not spending points in throw or warp means your spending points in cyroblast.blank1 wrote...
Reave does do a little more damage than Warp, but its selling point is that it's a life leach when used on organics too. Also, picking up warp means you don't need to have points in Throw either, which is nice.
Whats a good bonus power for sentinels?

Reave is so over-rated....
warp does double damage to armor and barriers too, its immediate damage, its only less than 50 points weaker and it explodes other biotics like pull. most importantly warp curves allowing you to hit people without choosing area reave
When it comes down to it, you either bring Miranda in to warp your reave or you bring samara so her reave is warped.
Reave's damage is instant against barriers and armor. How can you call it overrated when you clearly haven't even tried it?
Whenever a pull/singularity + warp would kill an enemy, reave will also kill the enemy.

Incorrect. Warp also detonates Biotic abilities. You can easily see it in the first video by Gatsby.

A great combo I found was AP ammo + throw on baddies like husks. A regular short burst from an AR with AP ammo will strip its armor, then use throw (level 2) to knock the husk over and kill it. Throw refreshes very fast so you can just alternate short bursts and instakills. Chews through husks very quickly without waiting on warp cooldowns or expending overmuch ammo.

I like AP ammo. Armor is very popular on enemies like husks and warp isn't really spammable. Reave and drain are okay, but are small upgrades for abilities sentinels get for free. I'd consider reave much for useful for an engineer and drain useful for an adept. Plus sentinels already have more than enough options at any given moment for powers, so a passive gun skill is always useful unless you use squad ammo.

Thread winner. AP ammo is one of the best (if not THE best) bonus power for a Sentinel on Insanity, with warp ammo coming very very close to it. The thing about AP ammo that makes it so good, is the fact that the bonus damage is vastly superior to other ammo types, especially if you go for Tungsten. If it worked on barriers as well, it would probably be OP. Other than that defensive abilities like Barrier/Geth Shield/Fortification etc are all nice and everything but that fact is, you shouldn't need any of them, since you already get tech armor which is very powerful in itself. It's redundant. Same goes for Reave. It's an excellent ability but only slightly better than warp. Sure you save a couple of points if you don't intend to use throw and it has a slight "stun" effect, the temporary health boost is nice but nothing particularly exciting. Again, redundant to a certain degree. Generally, it's all about maximizing damage output as early as possible, since you will be stuck with the pistol/SMG until the Collector ship.

Does 20% more damage with the Biotic Duration upgrade making it slightly more damaging than Warp.
Heals health.
Saves you 3 skill points
Reave Cons
Has a 0.8 total damage multiplier on Insanity making it weaker than Warp without the Biotic Duration upgrade.
Uses up your bonus power slot
On a related note, can anyone tell me why people praise Reave's ability to stagger enemies even though Warp does the same thing?

Reave can stagger groups and for longer
The stagger duration is the same. I suppose if you evolve Reave into an AoE that would set itself apart from Warp.
