I have the XBox version and when the game comes up it tells me that it was unable to connect to the dragon age servers and to try again later. I have been playing the game and have three save files. I cannot load these files because it cannot validate the downloadable content. What the heck is going on? Are the servers actually down?

I have verified my XBOX Live connection and have rebooted the system several times as well as opening the required ports. Any ideas?

Is there anything new with this? It's driving me insane. Getting it all the time during gameplay.

I got this for the first time last night, PC version. I was really surprised as I hadn't had any problems before this.

Been having this nostop myself on pc version, cant upload pics while in game. Plus i cant access manage my characters section on the site. Even though there was some bothersome issue with characters that i had since deleted and removed in game and on the site that constantly re appear on the site >.<

Mine doesn't think I am connected to the internet. Havent been able to sign in since day one, despite trying numerous things mentioned here and the other forums.

I have this as well. Game seems to work and I can save/load but every 5-10 minutes I get a pop-up saying this. *Very* annoying! :(

Submit a support ticket. The more that do the higher the priority will become. I submitted one today.

Same problem on Pc. Mine disconnects from the net, but not Router, after about 20-30 min into game.

Could it be an issue with the x86 file from windows, that i had to download after patch 1.01?

Others having same issue?

I'm having a similar problem.

I keep getting "unable to connect to Dragon Age Server" all the time while playing, which is annoying to say the least. I can't find anywhere to shut it up. And I am connected to the internet, I *have* downloaded the DLC content, I can also upload screenshots and it even says I'm logged in and all !

See screenshot here.

Seriously, at least let me turn off the damn message so I can play in peace.

Bump.

Got a stupid ticket from support saying to disable all firewalls and connect my PC directly to the cable modem. Also to forward ports 80, 8000 and 8001 to my machine.

Software firewalls are already off, PC is DMZed so port forwarding is useless, port 80 is blocked incoming by most ISPs.

They are having server issues and some idiots in tech support don't know that so they are spewing generic fixes at all you people vs looking into their server issues

Yup, seems like every 10 or 15 minutes the message pops up and ruins my immersion. Funny thing is, I didn't have this problem yesterday. I was considering forwarding ports as well, but as a Toy4x4 stated, I too already had those ports open.

Maybe there's something in an ini file or something we can edit to turn off the messages? Absolutely friggin annoying I tell ya.

I think I got it figured out now!

Basically, what happens, is that I'm playing a character that the Dragon Age server doesn't know yet, so it returns either a gibberish answer to the game, or that it's unavailable. You will keep getting those pop-up reminders until the Dragon Age server updates and adds your new character to the roster of your characters on the server. After that, it will accept playing updates as you play and stop nagging you.

In other words, the Dragon Age servers update much too slowly, so you get a nag screen everytime the game tries to update your online profile when you reach a character achievement with your newly created character .. like, say, kill 100 darkspawn badge. It stops after the server updates your online profile so the new character appears.

Dont listen to anything tech support is telling you guys.. it's all GARBAGE.... the game doesn't need ANY ports forwarded to it AT ALL... it makes OUTGOING ports.... so if anything.. if you have a firewall in windows you MAY have to open an outbound port, but that is RARE. A firewall should be set to protect inbound but let almost any outbound traffic happen.

Also while the game is running find the daupdater service in task manager.. raise its priority from low or below normal to normal or above normal and your updates to the online site will happen MUCH faster (especially for those on 2 core systems) :)

No you can't. The game doesn't support any sort of game pad input what so ever :(

Gotta try this next time I play.
So far, it seems I only get updates about once every 12 hours or so.

Thanks for the tip. :)
