I always thought she should be a romantic option in ME1, so I was pleased they gave us that option this time round. I just hope that they don't 'reset' all the romances / friendships again for ME3. I was okay with that happening once (and the story handled it pretty well), but to happen twice?

I actually didn't like her in me1 but her charector really showed in me2. Garrus to even though he didn't talk as much. Maybe its because there the only 2 that willingly walked into hell with you plus if you listen to the biotics comercial on the citdel it mentions male shep and tali. They mention garrus if your femshep. I don't think it sais anything when with jack or meranda. Its on the wards where that reporter is that did a smear job on you in me1 and its near that solarian that sells video games
They said Miranda for me, I think it's just whatever potential love interest that you have the best standing with perhaps? Can't remember if it was before or after I recruited Tali or Jack however.

She actually gives reasons for wanting him and being interested in him that go far beyond Miranda's or Jack's, which basically boil down to "fix me."
Tali doesn't need fixing. She comes to you, coherent and capable. With a soft side, yes, but she doesn't step out of the airlock as damaged goods.
In real life, I'm far more likely to like girls that like me, not girls that need me to hold them together emotionally. (Jack) Or where my job is to pour compliments down a bottomless hole because no one showed her she had value beyond her shell. (Miranda) I've been with a Miranda. It's exhausting.
What he said (bolded text mine)...

I have to agree with quite a few people who said she has that "shy geeky girl" charm, but also that she's a great combination of emotional stability and vunerability. You also get the sense that she's an extremely capable individual in her own right - a real leader, and somebody who really believes in doing the right thing. All of those things make her an appealing romantic character.

This.
Strong, stable, intelligent, but feminine. Damned near the perfect woman.
And also:
I've been with a Jack and a Miranda, irl.
I don't feel like reliving those nightmares in a game, honestly.

Two members of different sapient species having sex is not bestiality.. We really don't have a term for it, since it hasn't been an issue on Earth since the Neanderthals died out, but there is a difference...Jonp382 wrote...
Quarians are not members of the human species, so it's technically still beastiality.

Now, whoever brought the scale itch aboard the Normandy is definitely guilty of beastiality.
Banging alien humanoids, not so much.

No, it isn't surprising in the least bit.
Thane is cool and all, don't get me wrong, but the "dark, mysterious, "slightly" brooding assassin" theme is a bigger cliche than Space Marines.
Also, Tali reminds quite a few of us Tali fans (the guys anyways) of that nerdy, sometimes nervous, smart girl in the back row of class. You know, the one that you just can't help but like.
Hell, I actually have a friend from back in high school who is almost exactly like Tali (minus the accent, suit, and weak immune system). Come to think of it, maybe that's why I like Tali... /ponders

This.
Key word being "sapient"
To me beastiality implies sex with a lesser animal that is not conscious as human beings are and, therefore, can't consent.

Quarians as a race are likable people. They lost their homeworld and fly around on fleets of ships in their suits. They do a coming of age pilgrimage where they see the world but are treated badly on most planets.
I felt almost as much for the Quarian slave girl and the Quarian girl with the volus and the Quarian shopkeeper who was being bullied as I did Tali. And Veetor and Kal too. Even the admirals were quirky and cool.
Its just an awesome race Bioware created. Everyone likes the underdog, and Tali is the one we get on the team.
