I downloaded it from Direct 2 Drive, and the install went smoothly.  I was able to play immediately and the game behaves flawlessly.  I am aware that others have had technical difficulties, but I have had none.

The game is beautiful, and the interface is fairly easy to use.

FWIW I am running the game at max video settings on a homebuilt computer with a AMD 5600+ dual core, 2 Gigs of DDR 800 RAM, a Nvidia Geforce 8800 GS video card, with Windows 7 32 bit operating system.  If any of you are wondering if it runs well on Win 7, it does.

I started playing around 9PM, had a snack at 1AM, and played until 9AM, when the game finally started leaking memory and running jerkily and I had to reboot. I'm still awake, and catching my second wind to go back in. I can't hink of a better endorsement than that. Oregon approves of this thread. =]

i love this game. i mean, it's not perfect, but what game is? it is very playable and the story is cool. every once in a while i even find myself thinking how bg'esque a certain part feels. bioware did something no one else wants to do anymore: make a game with a plot and immersive characters and not wreck the darn thing trying to find a way to force it as an online game. how many single player games are there anymore with this quality? there's a place for online games, but there should still be a place for single player games. maybe dragon age is the game to show it can still be done if you do it right. most people complaining are online, multiplayer, fps types who don't remember the infinity engine games. dragon age has brought that era back. maybe this is the only title that will, but at least bioware had the guts to come out and put this together. we've waited for a long time since bg2 to get a game like this. hopefully, there will be more.

The game is a behemoth of an RPG, and I am loving every minute of my first play through. It has been a while sense I have been so pulled into a game world that made me feel and actually care as much as this one.

As I posted in a thread on the "old" forums which are temporarily still active, this game so far is everything I had hoped it would be. The game is outstanding in my opinion. I do not understand the negative comments from people who are upset that there is no multiplayer, or its not open-world etc.

Flat out most fun I've had in years playing any video game.

Theres a few out there (I loved ME, another good BW release), but I still agree.
I dont have the time or inclination to grind myself up to some uber character in an MMORPG, I did that in UO, AO and Neocron (feels like a long time ago). But today I have an apartment, cars, girlfriend and work to attend to and in single player games I can sit down and play and then turn it off when something else needs to be done.

If I play MMORPGs I cant be a casual gamer, whats the fun in being a newbie when 80% of the other players have uber gear.

North Carolina agrees as well. Great game thank you for a wonderful gaming experience.

North Carolina's ex-pat British community also agrees.

Agreed, the way I see it MMORPG is an unpaid job! I seriously don't have time for that, and when I say I'm a casual gamer, unfortunately companies like Nintendo give me Wii Sports. I am a casual gamer that craves for good single player rpgs with deep immersion, cool gameplay and great storyline. Games that had those elements were in plenty throughout the 90s, but now Bioware (and maybe Obsidian as they are Black Isle's heirs but I think they still need to prove themselves by making something better than mediocre, and I sincerely hope they do) is the only company representing that age. I hope they do really well with this game and keep giving us more.

It's a masterclass in the art of crafting a living, breathing world; rife with political intrigue and personal ambition. In short, it's totally awesome.

Thank you, Bioware.

nice - playing as a mage? To my defense I do a lot of healing since my no good warrior seems to attract trouble like flies on a turd.

I love this game. Best since KOTOR, imo. Hated NWN, there was a very large and vocal group that hated that game. DAO is a verifiable hit with the community based on the almost complete lack of hatred for the game.

I'd just like to say...

I had NO problems actually getting the game.

I had NO problems installing the game.

I had NO problems redeeming codes.

I had NO problems with the DLC.

I have NOT had any problems whilst running the game.

I'm not gloating either. These things just need to be said to even things up a little.

I'm about 4 hours in and already finding DA to be the most engrossing game that I've played for a long long time.

I'm with the previous poster - I have had the game crash on me a couple of times, but I had absolutely zero problems with any installing, redeeming codes, or getting DLC to work. Everything went far, far more smoothly than I was expecting.

I'm playing as a mage and loving gameplay so far. I really love the party interactions, both with my PC and with each other.

I've played for a couple of evenings and one full day so far, so probably ~20 hours of gameplay (I actually was legitimately home sick the day after the game came out) and I'm still really enjoying it.

I wouldn't call DA:O my favorite game ever, since it's not open-ended enough to seem perfect to me, but it's definitely in my top 5 or 10 at this point, and I'm not expecting anything further into gameplay to change that.

DA:O is fantastic. I've been a gamer for 20 years, the last 5 of which have been a sea of mediocrity. It's about time we have a real CRPG to play again, hats off to Bioware!

This forum is full of negative nonsensical posts, which (and I don't mean to be an ass, but I call em as I see em) is not surprising given the current generation of gamers. Games these days are too easy in general, that coupled with this "i pay so i win" generation = massive fail.

I realize that I'm coming across somewhat negative and immature, but reading all these ridiculous posts is starting to wear on me. It's a great game and the majority of us are enjoying the hell out of it. That said, back to actually playing the game (and not whining about difficulty, graphics or lack of side quests 5 hours into the game)

Thanks Bioware, you made my month :)

This might come out as a total fan-boi post. But to be honest I dont really care. I see so much negative feedback I really don't understand, I know its not another Oblivion/NWN/ME or whatever people are looking for, but I came to turn with the way the game is designed in the first hour and just sat back and enjoyed the story, the combat, and the fact that I actually had to use my RTS skills in an RP Game (that i had to use any game skills in an RPG is amazing).

Sure, there are minor bugs and/or lack of features, like the when PC is walking the NPC's are running and not walking or the whole inventory deal where an item just fills up one slot, no matter how big it is or how many times it stacks. But in the bigger picture it fills so very little.

Without exaggerating this game is one of, if not the best, game in terms of immersion I've ever played. The story is so vast, the whole political plot going on behind the gamer which you dont take much part in, and the heaps of readable content in the codex is just... mind boggling. As an Art Director and writer I really appreciate the work behind all this.

So a big kudos from the cold Denmark to the, I can imagine much colder, Canada for an amazing game which I'm sure I'll be spending the next months enjoying.

I completely agree with you, I have played many good games for the last decade, but this seems to be the first that can rival Baldur's Gate 2 So I'm really happy with my purchase :wizard: Anybody else but me who remembers the awesome finale to BG2? It was an Incredible power trip Ascending to Godhood in Throne of Bhaal with my Mage which rivaled Raistlin from Dragon Lance <3
I know, I'm a super nerd :o
And I'm also a Dane so I'm gonna finish this with the words "DRAGON AGE! JEG GÅR AMOK!!!!" :o

I love this game. I give props to Bioware, for giving us a major title that still has some of the old school in it. I do wish there was a 4 to 5 roll queue, but it has not stopped me from enjoying the game.

This game is awesome.
It's BioWare's so it's obvious that the story is great, but what really impress me in this game is the combat. Every battle is difficult enough that you have to be prepared and you can use talents in any battle so you can try different tactics every time. So it's both tactical and exciting.
