Why do people think that ME2 characters won't make it in ME3?

I hear people say that since it's possible for anyone to die in ME2, that explains why there won't be any of them returning in ME3. Just to point out, Ashley, Kaiden, and Wrex could have died in ME1, but at least 1 of them makes a return in ME2 if you let them live (Wrex as well if you charn him into staying at your side). What you do in ME2 can drastically affect what happens in ME3. So don't you all think it's possible that certain ME2 characters will return in ME3 if they survived the suicide mission?

When people say that, they mean as squad members. For instance, Ashley and Kaiden serve exactly the same role in ME2 and unplayable characters - You basically have a two minute conversation with them. If they were playable, they would have had to write two completely Loyalty missions and dialogue trees for the same character. Seeing anyone is capable of dying in ME2, then it will be difficult to make the squad members playable in ME3 because there are so many variables for different playthroughs.

i think the fact that you can pick if they live or die kinda give them even more reason to be in ME3 since that would add to the whole content of having your decisions affect the game. just like that women helena blake who you could of killed in ME1 you see in ME 2 and so on. so i am preety sure they will be in ME3 or else they wouldnt of given you so many dam teammates. idc really how many make it to ME3 as long as Tali is in ME 3 ill be happy. thats all i want!!!

That's not true. I don't understand the logic behind your arguement. If you have only your surviving squadmates from ME1 and ME2 as part of your squad in ME3, then what is the problem? How do you think they did dialogue and loyalty missions with your squadmates from ME2? It would be the exact same thing in ME3, except you would already have your squadmates recruited. It's not like there has to be unique dialogue with each surviving squadmate that is based on a specific combination of surviving and dieing squadmates.

If Bioware does not at least bring back all surviving ME2 squadmates, then that would be stupid and eliminate the risk of the final mission because then who cares if your squadmates die in ME2? You wouldn't be able to use them anyway, or you would just see them for a minute like you do ashley, kaiden, and liara in ME2 which is stupid.

I agree with you - It's just going to take a lot of extra work on Bioware's part.  Say I have team member A, B and C die and you have player X, Y, Z die - If you can follow what I'm getting at, you'll understand that it will be quite the juggling feat for Bioware to pull off.  I have faith though...

@Jackal904: So you assume you only have your reamining crew in ME3? That would be possible, but I doubt it cause that would mean maybe you would have only 2 or 3 partymembers if you screw up ME2 ;)

I really really hope I'm wrong and Bioware makes a dialogetree/missions/stuff/... for EVERY POSSIBLE squadmember you could have gotten in ME1 and 2. Ashley, Kaidan, Wrex,... but I really don't think that's gonna happen.

The entire point of ME 2 was recruiting a squad, so I really hope they keep most of the characters for squad mates in ME 3. I don't want half of ME 3 to be collecting companions again.

In particular I want to keep Tali, Garrus, and Mordin as they, to me, are the most interesting and believable characters. Plus Tali and Garrus have now been on your team in 2 games now, they should stick around.

Bitterness mostly. Their favorites didn't come back in ME1 and instead of being big boys and just getting over it they feel the need to lash out at others.

Typical internet behavior really.

I dont think that non-LI will come back for ME3. Think about it you need to write a whole character that will not be in many games. The LI will most likely return because a lot of players would be angry if they dont show up, but npcs like Mordin or Samara will probably get the same treatment in ME3 as Wrex got in ME2.

I'm happy as long as Miranda, Ashley & Liara along with Samara are able to be my squadmates in game in the next installment.

Especially Miranda.....
