Well, it won't let the toolset start, as it turns out. Looking for a solution now.

Let me guess. You got DA:O off steam?

Appears to be a problem with where the game install, as it installs it in a directory that is longer then 58 characters long, and the SQL server cant be installed when that's the case.

Make sure to check this page: http://social.biowar...troubleshooting for help on installation.

I had no issues installing but then I already had MSSQL installed for my development work.

It's from Steam, yes.

Any ideas on what to do, besides buy another copy?

So, currently steam users cannot install it?

Or is there a fix available for this issue floating around? as the help suggesting installing it to a shorter path is not an option.

Wait for Bioware to fix it I suppose. If they can.

Maybe they will release the toolset on steam, specificly made for it, that would be nice.

don't go buying another copy, it looks like a directory length issue with SQL Server. We are working on it.

I physically flinched when I saw this.
I will do no such thing. In the best spirit of capitalist excess I shall march down to my computer store and buy a physical copy.

Edit: Or I could wait....but knowing the toolset is out and not being able to use it is about more than I can bear.

It just need a code change in the Sysdbupg.sql, however we can get access to the file as its inside the .exe, this is a SQL server issue NOT a toolset issue.

However information can be found here :

I don't want to:

a) Defy Allan

B) Buy another copy

c) Wait another day to use the toolset

I pre-odered a physical copy anyway, and I own 3 copies of BG, 2 of NWN, so buying anoither cop was always on the cards. I'll just do it today rather than later.

They'll need to edit the exe, and then have it pass through their QA stream, and it's about to be the weekend. In about 4 hours I'm buying my physical copy.

Doing this fix does not work, I just tried it.

the file sysdbupg.sql is located at C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Steam\\steamapps\\common\\dragon age origins\\tools\\toolssql\\MSSQL.1\\MSSQL\\Install

If you still run into problems, Delete temp_MS_AgentSigningCertificate_database.MDF and LDF from C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Steam\\steamapps\\common\\dragon age origins\\tools\\toolssql\\MSSQL.1\\MSSQL\\Data

The issue is the length of the path that Steam uses to install...it's longer than 58 characters, which is beyond the limit that SQL servers are setup to handle.

Yup, got it to work. However, the uninstaller for the toolset failed to copy over, but whatever.
