 I don't even use any other weapons with my adept, the Tempest is crazy nice, and seems to do more damage per second than ANY other weapon, heavies included except flame thrower,

I love SMGs. The Tempest is very nice fully upgraded with Warp Ammo. The only thing I don't like about it is that it is Full Auto instead of Burst like the first SMG. I sometimes forget that its Full Auto and waste a lot of ammo b/c after the initial burst of 3-5 bullets it gets hella inaccurate



On my first playthrough my Adept picked up the Assault Rifle skill on the Collector ship. I soon switched back to using SMGs.

SMG's are way too inaccurate. I prefer sniper rifles, assault guns, shotguns and heavy pistols by far. They're only interesting against tight groups of enemies (like husks) in combination with some ammo power like incineration or cryo in my opinion.

The SMG is very nice if you know how to you use it.



Your not suppose to spray but fire in controlled burst and after getting all the upgrades for it its godly.

are you crazy? AsheraII ? i used my smg + incineration ammo on insanity with my vanguard, it kicks butt, with the 700+ ammo i never ran out, playing a soldier now and i already miss the smg

Well, it IS relatively ineffective against armor. But great against shields and red health bars. On Insanity you just have to accept the fact that you switch to another weapon or use powers to take out highly armored opponents.

The Tempest isn't full auto, it fires bursts of five. There's an insane difference in accuracy if you just pause for just about a second after each burst, and you'll deal more damage aiming for the head with that strategy than if you just spray bullets at the body. Just fire once, wait three-quarters of a second to regain accuracy and then fire again.

personally ive started to hate the smg just because it makes all classes feel the same on my infiltrator it was cool but i just didnt use it on my vanguard and love that soldier cant use them

my sentinel used them until he got assault rifles and the it was vindicator headshots til the end

I'm pretty sure after holding the trigger down the Tempest fires in full auto.

The tempest does fire in 5 bursts, but it can fire again without delay... That's why it seems like it's full auto

What would full auto be to you? you press the trigger once and the entire clip comes out? lol

firing without delay is full auto, regardless if it can fire in 5 round bursts.

The SMG is something I use as a reserve weapon, where using my main weapon would be far too wasteful. For example, on my Infiltrator, the only thing I used on the IFF mission was the SMG, mostly because of the husks (I'd switch back to the sniper rifle for Scions.) Why? It fires in bursts, and I'm not going to waste ammo from my Widow just to kill 1 Husk.

You can't make the Tempest fire fewer than 5 rounds.  You also can't make it fire 7 rounds, or fire 3 rounds at one enemy and 2 rounds at another.

SMGs are basically just for non-Soldiers who didn't take Assault Rifle Advance Training.

You know the SMGs do more damage up close than the ARs. This is not including the Revenant of course. In fact the SMGs do more damage up close than all the shotguns as well.
